Hawaii Homeownership – Tough, But Not Impossible!

Obstacles to Homeownership in Hawaii

According to a Bankrate.com, Hawaii has more obstacles than most states when it comes to purchasing a property. The study evaluated home affordability relative to median income, credit availability, unemployment, and the tightness of supply in the housing market, along with the percentage of young homeowners in every state. The study gave Hawaii a zero for home ownership among millennials, even though the job market for young adults in the state is actually above average. Though the statistics are quite staggering, home ownership in Hawaii is still a worthy goal and not impossible.

Making Homeownership a Reality

For those seeking to purchase property in our island-state, I would like to share a wonderful resource with you — the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center. The center is a non-profit organization committed to making the dream of homeownership a reality for many of Hawaii’s families. Hawaii HomeOwnership’s primary focus is on educating buyers on the process of home buying. By helping clients formulate a plan of action and by providing resources to overcome financial hurdles, the organization takes the mystery out of home buying. I support HHOCC’s vision of increasing the number of successful homeowners in Hawaii and share their goal of building stronger families and communities throughout the state.
