Turn a House For Sale in Hawaii into More than Empty Rooms

When I show a house for sale in Hawaii, my ‘decorator mind’ pictures how the buyer might use the space. I love interior design and I firmly believe that when you love what you do, it shows. While my credentials are not in interior design, one of my favorite parts of helping clients find homes is helping them discover and implement their vision for what “home” looks like.

With my background in building homes, including the interior work and decorating, I help a seller stage a house and prepare it for sale. I do the paperwork, groundwork, and showings. The flip side of that is helping buyers. I work with them to make their vision concrete and bring that to fruition.

Since I know what is available on-island and what is distributed elsewhere, I help clients harness their imaginations. I find furniture, a decorator, a contractor—basically making it happen. If there’s a shoebox, I can make it look like a cottage in a palace.

The photos for this blog are of a 3 bed/3 bath home I sold in the Big Island’s Kohala Coast beach community of Puako. If that area calls to you, take a look below at one that is available just down the street.

Jan, I really admire your talent for this. I can also speak to your talent for guiding the seller through the process of de-cluttering and de-personalizing which is at the heart of staging. In other words, it takes a good eye AND a good heart to do what you do!

@Jan – we really should have taken before and after photos of my house in Puako. The changes you made were incredible. It’s so nice now I don’t really want to leave! Of course you’ll help me decorate my oceanfront house, right??

@Beth – are we writing a book yet?? 🙂
