3 Big Island Communities with Great Tennis Programs

Access to golf, fitness facilities, and ocean activities are popular past times that attract buyers to specific communities. What many people don’t realize is that tennis has been gaining popularity in many private residential communities here on the Big Island. If you are a tennis enthusiast interested in purchasing a home here on the Big Island, the following three communities, presented in no particular order of preference, all offer world-class tennis programs for people of all ages.

#1. Hualalai Four Seasons Resort at Historic Ka’upulehu

Hualalai Resort offers one of the best tennis programs on the Kona coast, with eight Rebound Ace tennis courts open daily with an array of tennis programs that are personalized to help improve your games. Year-round Hualalai members have access to private lessons, instructional clinics, night doubles, or let their staff pair you up with another member for a competitive game.

Your junior tennis enthusiasts will love Hualalai’s Magic Word Worlds, a unique junior tennis program for children ages 4-12. The tennis courts are transformed into a magical world full of colorful characters that’s interactive and visually stimulating that makes the game fun while improving the junior player skills.

#2. Mauna Kea Resort

Mauna Kea Resort is the only community on the Big Island that has tennis courts adjacent to the ocean. The 11 court Seaside Tennis Club has won numerous awards for being one of the world’s top 100 tennis resorts. For years, Mauna Kea’s Seaside Tennis Club has been considered by many as one of the best private luxury tennis clubs in the state. Besides its spectacular location, the club offers daily clinics, round robin tourneys, and a comfortable lanai area for you to relax in the shade while waiting for your next game.

#3. Kohanaiki

New to the island scene is Kohanaiki. This private residential community is striving to create the ultimate private club environment. In 2014, Kohanaiki completed its tennis facility that includes two Rebound Ace tennis courts and tennis hale. Don’t let the idea of only two courts deter you from considering Kohanaiki as an option for your tennis needs. Access to the courts is exclusive to members, limiting the number of players who may use the courts. In addition, Kohanaiki offers various clinics, private lessons, and events throughout the year to help you improve your game.
