Best Drive in East Oahu

The drive along the Ka’iwi Coast is beautiful. I would argue one of the best drives on Oahu.

One of my favorite drives on Oahu is the drive I take to get home every day. How blessed am I? I often take this drive for granted, but with the stay-at-home orders in place, I find myself taking time to slow down and appreciate the simple wonders around me. Shoutout to all the first responders and health care workers (all essential workers) for doing what you all do to make that possible for me.

The breath-taking drive starts at Maunalua Bay. Commuting doesn’t seem so bad if you’ve got this view to look forward to on your drive home, right?

I’ve been asked many times, “Isn’t Hawaii Kai just so far from everything?” I beg to differ considering we’ve got a Costco here in Hawaii Kai.

But, the question is valid. If work is Downtown Honolulu or the kids are attending a school outside of Hawaii Kai, then yes, Hawaii Kai might feel far from everything. No one wants to spend hours in traffic. But, being outside of Honolulu also means a little less hustle and bustle and the ability to live a more outdoor lifestyle.
