Are You an Adventure Boomer?

All baby boomers are not alike. Of course, if you are a baby boomer, you already know that you march to your own drum. You also know that people born during your generation come in all shapes and sizes. But, do you know that there are categories for boomers? That’s right — there are Traditional Boomers, Entrepreneurial Boomers, and Adventure Boomers, just to name a few. Today, I want to highlight what we like to call, “Adventure Boomers.”

What is an Adventure Boomer?

If you are among boomers who devoted tons of time to children and your career, you may be ready for “me” time. It’s time to pursue your own interests. Time to enjoy a recreational lifestyle. If this describes you, you are an Adventure Boomer. Welcome to the club!

Adventure Boomers in Hawaii

In Hawaii, we have a lot of Adventure Boomers who come during the winter to soak in our sunshine. They like to hike, golf, surf, sail, bike, and just about any outdoor activity that spells adventure. Enjoying great weather, friends, and an active lifestyle is huge for Adventure Boomers. Dividing time between two residences is also common for Adventure Boomers. Who doesn’t want the best of both worlds?

Low-Maintenance Living

Adventure Boomers like their freedom, so a low-maintenance home (or homes) is key. If you fall into this category, the last thing you probably want to do is spend your time on home maintenance. In fact, you may even prefer renting! Or, maybe an RV is calling your name? Adventure Boomers really don’t want to be tied down. One of my dear friends is an Adventure Boomer and she spends most of the year in her RV touring the country. She has friends in every state and every day is an adventure. She’s a true blue Adventure Boomer. Are you?

Enjoy the Journey

If you are truly an Adventure Boomer, words like travel, carefree, healthy, active, and adventure resonate with you. You are ready to hit the road. Of course, not all Adventure Boomers travel. But, they figure out ways to build adventure into their lifestyle. And, into their homes. Maybe it’s a putting green in the backyard, a pool with a cascading waterfall, a wine cellar, or a game room. Anything that has the potential to add a little adventure goes a long way with you. As long as you don’t have to maintain it, that is.

Yes, Boomers come in all shapes and sizes. Granted, there are many similarities among this generation. But, for those of you who like to bike, hike, fish, surf, sail, travel, and explore, you’re an Adventure Boomer! You’re someone who enjoys the road. The view. The adventure around the next bend.
