Talk Story #62 – Ala Moana and Kaka’ako Changes Make for New Opportunities

News continues to flow from various developers and sources regarding the ever-changing face of the area between the city of Honolulu and exciting Waikiki. The Ala Moana Center remodeling and new construction has been fascinating to watch. The sold out, super luxury ‘Ala MoanaONE’ tower on top of the Nordstrom garage is steadily going up, as is the more moderately priced ‘Waihonua’ tucked in with the other high rises of the Ala Moana “super block.”

Ala Moana Center changes continue

Living in one of the nearby high rises myself allows me to watch the stages of new levels of the center’s parking, pillars and pilings, and action where the construction continues at a fast pace. Making way for the upscale Bloomingdales Department store anchoring the Ewa side and other additional shops.

A New Standard for Oahu Oceanfront Living

It was recently announced that the flat area of the parking level directly facing Ala Moana Boulevard, with views of Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island areas, will have an additional, very ultra-luxurious, low level 200 unit condominium complex blending with private grounds and amenities, and will be an integral part of this world renown shopping mall.

The mall’s owner, General Growth Properties, along with The MacNaughton Group and Kobayashi Group, plus the local firm of Black Sand Capital, expect by late 2016 all will be completed, and the center will definitely be a new standard for oceanfront living and shopping combined.
