Something to Note

The affordable flats require homeowners to live in the flats as their primary residence for 10 years. Typically, homeowners are not allowed to rent or sell their property for the first 10 years of residence. Once the 10 years are up, homeowners can sell or rent the property for market price. This could be a huge profit for homeowners if the prices continue to rise in Hawaii. In order to qualify for the affordable townhomes and flats, there are income limits by family size, one cannot currently own a home and has to be a resident.

Affordable Application

If you are interested in purchasing an Affordable Flat, a pre-approval letter is required by a lender of your choice. If you use D.R. Horton’s in-house lender, they offer $6000 towards closing costs. The affordable homes application will need to be completed and the owner affidavit will need to be notarized. Once all documents are filled out, notarized and gathered, we will visit the sales office to select your home. A $1,000 earnest money deposit will be collected to secure your home.

Hello,
Question about the affordable home application, and buying process for these homes. A friend has just moved into the first phase of houses and let me know that another phase would soon be opening. Would appreciate any information you could email to me.

Mahalo, Dianna M.
