5174 Hanalei Plantation Rd

No matter how much time you have spent on Kauai, there is inevitably a small side road or area that many never knew existed. Even in our profession, which requires us to know every nook and cranny inside and out, we are surprised to find hidden gems from time to time. One such “secret” street that consistently surprises me as an “unknown” to visitors and locals alike is Hanalei Plantation Rd.

Iconic Location in Hanalei

Maybe it’s location atop the hill to iconic Hanalei town allow it to hide in plain sight as eager beachgoers wind down the road to play in the bay. What many don’t know is that a right turn at the Hanalei Police and fire station will take you down a special street perched high above Kauai’s crown jewel. Unbeknownst to many, the right side of the road is actually considered a part of the Princeville subdivision, which comes with an added bonus — these 12 homes benefit from Princeville’s zoning, which allows for nightly vacation rentals.

Enjoy Ocean and Mountain Views

With views of Hanalei’s mountains and ocean to the west, a lush green valley to the east and the blues of the Pacific to the North, 5174 Hanalei Plantation Road is a rare opportunity to own a home (that is also an income-producing, active vacation rental) on the Hanalei bluff. The pictures tell the story of the craftsmanship and detail this home offers, but they do not speak of the other opportunities that exist. A day in the 5174 life could easily look like this…

The Kauai Lifestyle Awaits

Take a short stroll to the end of Hanalei Plantation Rd which overlooks Hanalei Pier and the iconic surf break beyond it. The verdant green trail will take you down to the beach and river. Hang a right and walk down the beach to the Princeville resort for a drink or bite to eat, bring your board and jump in for a paddle out to the bay, or lay in the sun by the false kamani trees that line the shore (all of the above also an option). On your stroll back home post-surf, swim, or sun, we recommend you stop by the new farm to table food stand with a serious view called Nourish for a healthy bite that will not disappoint. End your day relaxing by the pool at 5174 or enjoy the sunset on the back lanai perched over the valley.

Believe it or not, this is real life for a select few and a rare opportunity for one of those to be you…
