Maui Oceanfront Luxury Auction – Crown Jewel of Kahana

As cliche as it may be The Crown Jewel of Kahana is the most amazing home I have ever experienced in my entire life. I had the pleasure of viewing this property a couple days ago as I was on my way to go SUP (stand-up paddling). I’m glad that I did because I discovered that this property will be sold at a live auction on May 12, 2011.

4809 Lower Honoapiilani Rd. (MLS# 340431) is the Crown Jewel of Kahana

This 8 bedroom/8.5 bathroom home of 9,232 sq. ft. of living area sits on a half an acre of pristine oceanfront Maui. The property is currently listed for $15,900,000, but will be sold to the highest bidder at auction.

Disappearing glass doors welcome the warm Maui sunlight and invigorates the mind and body with panoramic ocean views, the gentle silhouettes of two neighboring islands—Lanai to the South and Molokai to the North, and all the sights and sounds that are unique to Maui oceanfront ownership.

The home was inspired by the luxury resort living that is definitive of the West Maui region. This residence offers 5 star amenities with the added benefit of seclusion and privacy appealing to the most discerning of owners.

Every inch of this 9,800 sq. ft. masterpiece is crafted with the highest level of quality and innovative design accentuating the indoor-outdoor living that makes Maui one of the premiere locations in the world to call home. The glistening Pacific is a mere few steps away as is a small yet gorgeous white sand beach that borders the property.

Even on the best Saturday beach day, you might find one or two parties on this beautiful cove that fronts the Crown Jewel of Kahana

The home is built to accommodate a small intimate party, or a grand tropical gala of many as the residence has 8 bedroom suites each with their own unique feel of privacy and intimacy. The gourmet kitchen would likely make even Wolfgang Puck bask in its functionality and overall glory.

There is no reserve on this property and the format of the auction is live, and will be moderated by Concierge Auctions. The highest bid takes the Crown Jewel of Kahana. I have all the details and necessary paperwork to register for this auction, and I am here to guide you throughout the entire process as your exclusive advocate of ownership.

If you have been waiting for a luxury residence that is unparalleled in size, quality, and location—the wait is over. Bidder registration must be submitted to me by 5/9/11 at 5 P.M. You deserve this, it is time to pick up the phone, or send me an email and get yourself registered for this priceless ownership opportunity.

Jeremy, the manager from Concierge Auctions for this sale is the same guy who just conducted the sale at Kolea! He was quite excited about hopping over to Maui from the Big Island. I wrote a number of blog posts that might be useful for a prospective buyer to understand how their auction works (buyer premium, etc). AND given the results at Kolea, I think there is a good chance someone can pick up that incredible home for a bargain price!

@ Beth

I spent about an hour with Tom Banner from Concierge Auctions and he was very familiar with your name, Katie, Matt and Hawaii Life as a whole. As expected he had very positive things to say. I have read all of your blogs about the luxury auctions and they were certainly inspirational for me in producing this one. You do a great job with your articles and enjoy your insight and expertise.

As far as this property goes it will be interesting to see what this property actually goes for. There have been some oceanfront sales in the $8-9 mil range in this area that are the closest comps but these homes were substantially smaller so I’m thinking maybe in the $10m range but you never know.

Aloha Beth.

Incredible home Jeremy. This looks like a similar location to where my Dad & Grandfather developed some spec homes in the ’70’s

This is actually a home built on a vacant lot next to 3 spec homes I built with some family partners in the 70s. The location is great, and as the pictures and promo say is a crown jewel. I wish I was i a position to actually be a bidder!

I had to do a bit of research to so I could continue the post. When we sold the 3 oceanfront homes in the early 1970s there was a bit of concern that we might not be able to get $235,000 for each house. They were custom built oceanfront homes of approximately 2,500 square feet. Fast forward to 2011, and that price deinitely would not not get much of anything in West Maui. How times and prices have changed!

Hmmm…I am beginning to appreciate these multi-generational real estate teams, what a great perspective!

@ Mark and David

Mahalo for the historical perspective guys. Mark that is really interesting to hear and you are absolutely right that you can’t even get something that resembles a house under $300,000 now in West Maui.

Thanks for your input.

@ Paul

Paul the auction went through several delays and never actually came to fruition. In my personal experience, I thought that there was a lot of misleading/contradicting information presented by the company hired to handle the auction- I don’t feel this in any way about the listing brokerage firm. I have heard several rumors about what exactly took place but I don’t feel that it is really my position to comment on this.

There was another home in Plantation Estates in Kapalua that sold earlier this year by a different auction company. It was originally listed at $9.6m and sold at auction for $4.5m.

Paul, how can I be of further assistance to you?

Aloha Jeremy,

I’m aware this comment thread is quite old, but I was interested in the current status of the home?

I work as a Travel Designer for eliteLYFE, a luxury travel service provider that specializes in luxurious villas around the globe just like the Jewel of Kahana.

I’m trying to get in touch with whoever represents the home.

Thank you,
Josh
