Yurt Living in Kurtistown

Living in a yurt has become increasingly popular in Hawaii, thanks to its warm and tropical climate. This well-constructed yurt, situated on two full acres, offers approximately 700 sqft. of living space and provides all the comforts of home.

Equipped with a photovoltaic system, including new interstate batteries and a 10,000-gallon catchment tank in place, this unique dwelling features a lovely open living area with high ceiling, a fully equipped kitchen and ample windows for natural light. There is a bathroom area with outdoor shower and hookups for washer/dryer.

The yurt’s roof and sides were replaced in 2015, introducing additional windows and insulation. Additionally, there are two 16ft X 10ft studio cabins that share a bathroom.

These cabins have their own photovoltaic system and catchment water system in place that are separate from the yurt. The property boasts an abundance of mature fruit trees, including avocado, lemon, orange, rambutan, ulu, lychee, coconut, mango, and more. A beautiful rainbow eucalyptus trees and various types of bamboo further enhance the surroundings.

Situated approximately 10 miles from Hilo, the property provides convenient access to shopping, restaurants, healthcare professionals, and a hospital. This presents a unique opportunity to live off the grid on a fully sustainable and private two-acre oasis.
