Want to Live in America’s Happiest State? Ask Us How.

WalletHub released its 2026 rankings of the happiest states in the country, and Hawaii took the top spot. For those of us who live here, this isn’t exactly surprising news!

The study looked at all 50 states across three categories: emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community and environment, rolling 30 different metrics into an overall happiness score. Hawaii landed at #2 for well-being, #5 for work environment, and #18 for community and environment — enough to pull the state to #1 overall, edging out New Jersey and Utah for the top spot.

A few numbers stood out. Hawaii residents report the highest life satisfaction in the nation, along with the second-lowest depression rate. A majority of adults here describe their health as good or better, and Hawaii has the longest life expectancy of any state. Hawaii also posted the second-lowest rate of financial anxiety in the country. Ho nah!

Getting in the water every day and easy living in a quiet, gated community doesn’t show up in a spreadsheet. How can you quantify rainbows and whale sightings? Year-round dining under the stars! Outdoor showers! Noble leisure!? Sunshine, trade winds, and taking it easy (but still taking it!) clearly count for something. What about having your own peaceful, quiet sanctuary? No more FOMO! Also in Hawaii, we come together and help each other out – for instance we volunteer with the Hawaiian Island Land Trust.

But there’s a more direct route to happiness: Maybe the key to happiness is just that — a key.  A key to your own condo on the ocean at Puamana!

If Hawaii is the happiest state in the country, Puamana might just be the happiest square mile in it. Puamana is in a pivotal time, we are just receiving building permits to complete the North side of the property, we will be built back better than ever. Now is a good time to get in while prices are still relatively steady. We even have new-build opportunities slated for completion in 2027 – all in around $1M!
