Aloha friends! This weekend brings a fun mix of community energy, good food, live music, local arts, and ways to give back across Maui. From Wailuku First Friday and a special omakase experience at Japengo to Magic in Paradise, Corks for a Cause, canoe racing, and the latest real estate update, there are plenty of reasons to get out, connect, and enjoy what is happening around the island.
Wailuku First Friday
Do not miss Market Street transformed into a dance arena for Wailuku First Friday this weekend. The town party features live music, art exhibits, local food vendors, and activities for all ages. This week’s First Friday features the 11th Annual Uptown Getdown Breakdancing Competition. DJ Joralien and DJ Dhey will be spinning the beats and Bboy Karma will be hosting. There will also be 1v1 Bboy Battles. Check out Wailukufirstfriday.com for more.
Japengo Omakase Experience
For those seeking a truly unique dining adventure this weekend, consider reserving the Japengo Omakase Experience at the sushi bar in Japengo. Chef Masa Hattori curates a special eight-course menu featuring fresh local seafood and seasonal ingredients, prepared and presented with care. Experience limited to 6 guests on Saturdays from 6 – 8 pm. Tickets $270 and prepaid reservation required.
Magic in Paradise

ProArts Maui and Mana’o Radio present Magic in Paradise starring Maui’s own, David Kuraya! David performed regularly at the renowned Warren & Annabelle’s Magic Nightclub in Lahaina before the fires and is an elite magician and active community member. Show is this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
Corks for a Cause – MAPA

deVine Wine Lounge partners with local nonprofits on some Sundays to give back to the community. 15% of proceeds from 4 – 7 pm will be donated. This week’s Corks for a Cause supports non-profit Aloha FurEver Pets Foundation. Aloha FurEver Pets Foundation helps improve the lives of animals across Maui through accessible spay and neuter services, community education, outreach, and partnerships with local rescue organizations. This is a fun way to enjoy great food and wine while supporting local animal rescue efforts.
MCHCA Long Distance Season
HCRA States was held last weekend on O’ahu. Long Distance starts this week. On Saturday, the Laeʻula o Kai outrigger canoe club on Maui hosts the annual Tag Team long-distance race event as part of the MCHCA long-distance canoe paddling season. Check out Hawaiian Canoe Club for Race Schedule and more.
Anything Else This Weekend or Next?
I am always looking to promote other weekend activities for Maui organizations. If we are missing anything, drop me a line any time for future happenings. Mahalo!!!
Real Estate
Market Update
Uncertainty continues with Real Estate as non-residential owners are beginning to look elsewhere and regulations are hastening the process for them. Savvy Buyers have been identifying and scooping these opportunities. Will you be ready to buy? Many buyers are getting prequalified for loans now in anticipation of the market improving. Investors are refinancing to use equity lines to make cash offers which appeal to Sellers in multiple offer situations or using 1031 funds that have to be earmarked for real estate purchases. I love having 1031 Buyers on my clients’ listings. Have questions to help you prepare? Let’s get our checklist together.
Latest Maui Figures
As of July 31st, Maui County has 252 pending transactions and 1646 active for 13.2%. That’s almost a whole point since last update. Hopefully, we will be able to stick the 13’s as we’ve been in the 12’s for a while now.
Hot Listings
I have been busy working on a project that will be coming to market soon. 20 acres of ocean view organic farmland in Waiehu! I’m so excited to share Kuawa Olu with you all. Stay tuned!
Kuawa Ola is home to Rivera Farms where I found the best pink flesh dragon fruit I have had. While the season is in full swing, I’ve been trying freeze dried dragon fruit pieces for year-round enjoyment. Ice cream was suggested so my son and I made it out of Coconut milk, dragon fruit, honey and vanilla. Testing it with some Maui limes for tang too. We’ve also been pickling the peel like sweet mango peel and of course cubing it fresh for breakfast bowls, and making mocktails and cocktails. Any other ideas for preparation? I want to hear ideas!

Another benefit of owning in Waiehu is the climate is ideal for growing a variety of organic foods.
Want fresh dragon fruit, message me for Rivera Farms for $4/ pound if you buy in bulk for your own enjoyment.

Support Christian and their family farm before he heads back to college for baseball!!

If Kuawa Ola isn’t for you, here are 2 nearby listings that we at Hawaii Life also represent. MLS 407206 on Malaihi Road shares a neighbor and the same water flume that travels to Kihei from Waihe’e. This property has multiple rentals for income from 6 homes for over $11,000 and totals 34.7 acres for $2.75 million. As we discussed, this Seller (as many do) wants to see proof of funds from any buyer for showings.
Want closer to the beach? Lower Waiehu Beach Road has MLS 406777. 5-bedroom home with 2-bedroom ohana across street from the ocean. Great 2 story home has been a successful investment property. It would also be a great owner-occupied home offering easy beach access for nearby surfing, fishing, strolls. Close to everything in town. It’s a great area.
I am here to go over latest figures and discuss your plans for Real Estate on Maui.
