Love Where You Live – Reason #32 – Island Brew in Hawaii Kai
Do you have a favorite neighborhood spot? A place where you enjoy the surroundings, feel welcome, and find yourself wanting to linger a little longer? For me, Island Brew Coffeehouse is one of those places. And, it’s another reason I love living in Hawaiʻi Kai.

If you’ve been following my Love Where You Live series, you know that much of what I love about living here has to do with our community. The people. The gathering places. The everyday conveniences that make life a little easier and more enjoyable. Island Brew fits right in.

Location, Location, Location
Situated along the marina in the Hawaiʻi Kai Shopping Center near Safeway, Island Brew enjoys a prime waterfront location. A cup of coffee tastes even better when you can sip it while looking out over the water! It’s a lovely place to take a break, catch up with a friend, or simply sit and appreciate where we live.
And, because it’s right in the neighborhood, you can easily stop in before grocery shopping or after running errands. Though you may want to allow a little extra time. The setting invites you to stay.

A Place to Get Comfortable
I love the casual atmosphere, the artwork displayed on the walls, and the cute seating niches. There’s personality here. You can find a cozy spot inside or enjoy the outdoor seating along the marina. Whether you’re visiting with someone or enjoying a quiet moment on your own, it’s an easy place to feel comfortable.

There’s plenty to choose from, too. Coffee, specialty lattes, teas, smoothies, and açaí bowls, along with breakfast and lunch offerings. You can keep it simple with a drink or settle in for a meal. It’s nice to have options, especially when everyone in your group is in the mood for something different.

It’s Also About the People
Of course, a beautiful location and a good menu are only part of what makes a place special. The people matter. And Island Brew has a friendly, welcoming vibe that adds to the experience.
Marcos is one of those friendly faces. He always serves with a smile, and I appreciate that. A warm greeting and a little kindness can make a difference in someone’s day. They also give you another reason to return.

When I think about why I love Hawaiʻi Kai, places like this come to mind. We have wonderful scenery and so much natural beauty, but we also have neighborhood businesses and people who contribute to our sense of community.

What about you? Where do you go for a friendly smile, a good cup of coffee, or a few minutes to enjoy your surroundings?
If you haven’t spent some time at Island Brew, stop by. Find a comfortable seat. Enjoy the marina. And take a moment to appreciate another little piece of what makes Hawaiʻi Kai such a special place to call home.
Remember to love where you live.
