Love Where You Live – Reason #15 – Tattoo Labyrinth in Hawaii Kai

Discovering Tattoo Labyrinth: A Hidden Gem in Hawaii Kai

I’ve never had a tattoo.

But I’ve always admired the artistry, the stories behind the ink, and the courage it takes to wear your heart—or your heritage, your journey, your dreams—on your skin. So when I stepped into Tattoo Labyrinth in Hawaii Kai, I wasn’t there to get inked. I was there out of curiosity, respect for the craft, and love for our local community. And what I found completely blew me away.

Tattoo Labyrinth is bright, modern, and immaculately clean—nothing like the dark, intimidating tattoo shops you might imagine. The space has a light and welcoming feel, filled with creativity and calm. It’s a place where you can immediately sense the care that goes into not just the art, but the entire experience.

And then there’s Drew, the owner and artist behind it all. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear that Drew is someone who pours his heart into his work. He’s warm, genuine, and easy to talk to—the kind of person who makes you feel comfortable whether you’re coming in for your tenth tattoo or just browsing out of curiosity like me. You can tell that his connection to each client runs deeper than just the artwork; it’s about listening, storytelling, and creating something meaningful together.

While I was there, I had the pleasure of meeting Sue, a visitor from Minnesota who was getting a hibiscus tattoo  to celebrate her love for Hawaii. She shared how much the islands mean  to her and how Drew helped bring her vision to life with such care and detail.   Hearing her story and seeing her smile reminded me that tattoos can be deeply personal souvenirs—living memories carried home on the skin.

Even though I left without a tattoo, I walked away with a newfound appreciation—not only for the talent and skill involved, but for the way Tattoo Labyrinth brings people together through art and aloha.

In a community as special as Hawaii Kai, it’s places like this that remind us why we love supporting local. So even if tattoos aren’t your thing, I encourage you to stop by, say hello to Drew, and experience this little creative haven for yourself. You might just leave as inspired as I did.  Or better yet, you might leave with a tattoo and a lasting memory.
