One of my favorite subdivisions in Poipu is Kiahuna Golf Village, and that happens to be where I live. This was one of the first higher end subdivisions when it was developed in 1980.
Kiahuna Golf Village’s layout is unique in the respect that there are a lot of open areas and no homes back up to each other. There is a massive open space that runs down the center of the subdivision.
A fun story about this neighborhood is one of the owners, back in the 1990s, spearheaded planting rows of palm trees going up Kiahuna Plantation Drive and Pau A Laka which are the streets you take to get here.
So even before you enter the subdivision you’re driving down these streets with these majestic palm trees and the message you’re getting is that you’re heading somewhere really special.
And you are heading somewhere special.
I just love that one of the members of this community had the foresight to do that and for all the decades to follow we’re still enjoying this. It’s just lovely.
