Hale Alani – Residences at Kohanaiki For Sale

This week I was out to dinner celebrating with my friends (long time clients) who recently closed on their purchase of a Hale Alani home at Kohanaiki, the exceptional private residential club community in Kailua Kona. Which reminded me it has been a long time since I blogged about Kohanaiki — pre-pandemic, actually. Looking back, this 2014 post about the buyer profile at Kohanaiki proved to have held up well.

Consider Kohanaiki if, like my friends:

  • This is more than a vacation home, it is a gathering place and legacy for your family – you seek a sense of place and community
  • You care about good design: enduring, pleasing to the senses, functional, thoughtful to the smallest detail, quality of finishes matters but so does quality of life
  • Social status is unimportant to you; you love the Club because over the top amenities are to be playfully enjoyed

Moving day! The furniture arrived shortly after closing on their Hale Alani residence so of course I had to help unpack boxes. Notice Phase II homes under construction visible below pool level.

Overview: The Kohanaiki Residential Community and Private Club on the Kona Coast

Like Hualalai Resort and Kūkiʻo a few miles up the coast towards Kohala, Kohanaiki is a membership golf and beach club and an oceanfront residential community. There is no hotel, there are no restaurants or amenities open to the public, other than the publicʻs right to the beach which is a popular surf spot.

Kohanaiki acknowledges the history and culture of its privileged location, and has a commitment to providing opportunities for members to learn about and help perpetuate that cultural heritage. With sustainability features and an on-site organic farm, it was also designed to be in conscious relationship with the land.

If you were to buy a home under construction today, you would have an opportunity to join the Club and begin enjoying amenities and building relationships with other members of the community while waiting for your home to be completed. Here are a few of my favorite things other than the first class pools, golf, spa, and restaurants you might expect:

Let me add both of these are in the area of the 67,000 Club House where one evening we migrated after sunset and dinner at the main restaurant to sample beers from the on-site craft microbrewery in the family-friendly bar area.

Hale Alani – Homes for Sale Pre-Construction

My client friends have owned a 3-bedroom luxury condominium on the Kohala Coast for almost 20 years. During that time their kids grew up and married; now there are grandkids! Plus they are nearing retirement, and now have flexibility to spend more time each year enjoying their home in Hawaiʻi. When they toured at Kohanaiki, buying a 4-bedroom Hale Alani home pre-construction was perfect. They were able to get their first choice of floor plan and location, and pick their preferred finishes (not that you would be unhappy with any of the finish options).

The Kohanaiki website link has a ton more information for you to (virtually) explore the community. Whether for Phase II of Hale Alani or a resale in one of the. other neighborhoods — or one of the front row private residences available for sale — call me to discuss whether this is the right community for you and set up a tour!
