iPhone, Apps, and Real Estate

Got Apps?

I admit that I am a tech junkie, and anything new by Apple is on my must-have-now list. You may think that these things have nothing in common with real estate. Not so. The iPhone is a perfect example. When I heard about this marvel of technology, I ran to AT&T to get on the list to get one. They told me I was nuts, and THEY had no idea what I was babbling about.

Skipping forward to the three billion apps that have now been downloaded… I find that anytime, anywhere I am, seminars, supermarkets, book stores, dentist or doctor office, I have the perfect opportunity to market myself and real estate. I look around, see who has an iPhone (always one, usually more) and ask “what’s your favorite app”? This provides me with a perfect opportunity to speak with someone I don’t know, about something we have in common. We exchange favorite apps, and we have a chance to discuss our approach to discovering the extent of possibilities of iPhone uses in our everyday life. At this point I give them a business card, get their information I always have new apps to add to my growing app collection. What a social network! You have real time face-to-face contact with someone, you never would have met. This is cold calling without the anxieties or door shut in your face. Read entire post →

This week’s North Shore Kauai Realtor’s caravan featured as assortment of land listings and homes in several rural subdivisions. The journey started at the Waipake subdivision where there are several lots listed. From there, we headed north to the Anini Beach area.

The homes right on Anini beach demand a premium for their location and are currently priced from $3.75 million to $10.4 million. This mauka (mountain) side home presents a stellar value in today’s beach side home market. Listed for 1.25 million, this home was almost in escrow last year at $2.3 million.

From here, the caravan the journeyed up the Kalihwai Ridge subdivision which runs about three miles straight up to the mountains. At the end of Kahilholo Road is a beautiful country estate with three buildings. A primary home with lots of open space, a garage and a separate studio apartment. Located adjacent to the lake at the top of Kalihwai Ridge, this estate is private, quiet, and has lots of possibilities.

The caravan ended up at Namahana Farms, a subdivision adjacent to Kalihiwai Ridge and the final home, where a gourmet lunch was served, was the consummate example of mountain majesty. When i stood out on the rear lanai of this Bali-style home, all i could see was tropical vastness.

I thought to myself, for someone who loves mountains and seclusion, “It doesn’t get any better than this!” This home is adjacent to thousands of pristine conservation acreage known as the Halalea Forest Reserve.

Enjoy this short video highlighting three homes for this week’s North Shore Caravan.

All property listed for sale in our Maui real estate database is updated on a daily basis from RAMaui, or at least that’s what I thought! Turns out the automated script responsible for the daily update had a bug so that we did not have any new properties for a while there.

The good news is that I caught the bug and now everything is running smoothly. So for all you looking for homes, condos and land on Maui, have fun. There are a bunch of new properties to look at : )

Recently, Joel Burslem of Inman News listed,

“Ten of my favorite real estate search experiences on line today”

in his blog post 10 Kick Ass Real Estate Search Sites.

I’d like to throw out a big Mahalo to Joel for including HawaiiLife.com in that list. Our Hawaii real estate site is listed next to some heavy competition including, Redfin.com, Century 21 Canada, Windermere, and others.

I have been a long time reader of Joel’s blog, www.futureofrealestatemarketing.com, and many of the ideas and discussions presented in his posts have directly influenced the direction of our website. So thanks again Joel, not only for including us in this short list, but also for all the great info on your website. I highly recommend any agent interested in real estate marketing to check out his blog.

And just because we made Joel’s list doesn’t mean we’ll stop working on the site. There are lots of improvements to be made if we’re gonna make the list next year!
