Haiku Historic School/Church Property For Sale on Maui
Once in a while, we list a property that is a real special offering to buyers. 490 Kaupakalua Rd. (MLS# 352430) is such a property; it is quaint, charming and was once the Peahi School. It is located across from the old Deva Farm and in the middle of an area in Peahi known as “Banana Patch” and is truly a historical icon in Haiku.
The building includes a church which was built in 1938 and had a school building that was moved and attached to it becoming Peahi School in the late 1970‘s. My nephew and niece, Noah and Kinau, used to attend pre-school here in 1979 when there was no public pre-school available at Haiku School.
Sitting in the old church with the windows open, the trade winds softly blowing through caressing your skin, with the aroma of ginger and orange blossoms wafting in is as relaxing and soothing as it gets. With no immediate neighbors, this property feels much larger than 0.6 acres.
The Hawaii Life Value Score grades 490 Kaupakalua a 95 out of a possible 100 points.

The present owners have polished this treasure with love and care. It is presently used primarily as a pilates and yoga studio, the potential uses are many. Since it was previously permitted as a pre-school, it may be possible to restore the school permit.
It may also be possible to be used as a church again due to its previous historical use. The building has been used previously as a residence and has kitchen, two bedrooms, and one full as well as one half bath.

Very true Shaylyn,
Many of the old homes and buildings in Haiku quickly become victims of nature. This place is beautiful.
