Tom Scott & Brittni Paiva Jazz Concert at Mauna Kea Beach Resort

The video below is just a sample of what Hector, myself, and others were treated to at a very intimate concert on 12/1/11 by Hawaiian ukulele player Brittni Paiva (Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner) and well known American saxophonist Tom Scott (3x Grammy Winner).

Grammy Award Winner and local musician Charles Michael Brotman of “Kohala” was also instrumental in the success of the evening. I hope you have a few minutes to close your eyes and listen to this amazing rendition of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz movie!

The musicians were accompanied by the sound of “real” waves as we sat ocean side at the intimate luau grounds at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Big Island, Hawaii. (Read about some of the amenities at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.)

There really was a feeling of magic in the air…with the calm, tropical moon as the perfect backdrop to some incredible music!! There were also a few rockin’ songs that got some of the crowd up to dance! You can count on musical treats like this all the time here on the Kohala Coast, especially since music plays such an important role in the lives of Hawaiian people and kama’aina!

The song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was also made popular by one of Hawaii’s most famous musicians, Brother Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (a.k.a. Bruddah Iz). Good friend and Hawaiian musician Nino Kaai kills that version! You can listen to Nino’Dem Dec. 29 at The Blue Dragon Restaurant & Musiquarium.

We love the Blue Dragon because you can count on live music every single night they’re open (Thurs.-Sun.). The musicians you’ll hear may be either local artists, or a visiting musician of world-class caliber! The food, spirits, and service are great too!

Shown here are the resident parrots at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel waiting patiently for the evening concert

If you want a residence in Hawaii, maybe one like this Wai’ula’ula condo (MLS# 245994) would do, and I can help you!

I hope you can make the music on the Kohala Coast a part of your Hawaii life!! Mahalo (again) for letting me share mine with you! Always my best with aloha…Annie.
