Getting Married on Maui – Mahalo Hawaii Life
I am an extremely happy man these days as I just got officially engaged to my wonderful fiance, Megan Zimmerman, of Vancouver, Washington.

I am extremely grateful to Hawaii Life Real Estate Services for helping to create the destiny between Megan and myself. Megan and I share a fairytale love story together. The first clients I ever served as a Hawaii Life agent were Megan’s parents, Frank and Marie, as they inquired on HawaiiLife.com about a home in Kaanapali.
Marie was ready to buy a house “sight unseen,” but I convinced her that coming to Maui to finalize her decision was in her best interest. I am so grateful that I persuaded her to do so, as I instantly felt a very strong connection with Marie. Her enthusiasm, humor, and non-stop storytelling is intoxicating to all who meet her.
Marie and Frank ended up purchasing a home in Kaanapali Golf Estates (the last photo in this blog is a view from their house that we enjoy everyday). Roughly one month after the closing the home, Marie and Megan made a trip to Maui. From the very second I laid my eyes on Megan, while picking them up at their hotel to take them to the house, I was enchanted and felt my heart start to beat fast and that nervous chill came over me.

We joke about it now as Megan was the one to “open the door” on the relationship. She asked me if I wanted to go to the beach with them sometime. I was unable to make our first scheduled meeting because of a work obligation, but I knew I had to get my butt out to Kaanapali to see this beautiful young woman again.
Our first “date” was awesome. We walked down the Kaanapali Boardwalk and went snorkeling around black rock, I was totally impressed with Megan’s snorkeling skills among many other attributes ;) We then had lunch at Hula Grill and I think this is when it really started to hit us both that this was something very special.

A couple nights later, Megan and I went on a late night walk in Lanikeha to enjoy the stars together. There was no turning back now as Megan and I were falling head over heals at this point. Megan went home a couple days later and we were left wondering what would happen between the two of us.

We regularly Skyped with one another, and one day out of the clear blue, Megan sent me a text message with a picture of two NFL tickets for the Seahawks and 49ers (she knew this was my favorite team). She texted, “You interested?” About a week later, I was sitting with her at the 50 yard line cheering on my Niners as Megan rooted for her Seahawks.

I made a total of 6 trips from Maui to Washington last winter in about a 3 month period—a little rough on my bank account, but clearly worth it. Whether it was challenging Megan to go swimming in the 50 degree ocean in Oregon, or learning to snowboard at Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon, we had a blast together.

I’d like to extend a huge Mahalo to Matt Beall, Winston Welborn, and Justin Britt, “The Big 3″ of Hawaii Life, for helping to align the stars of destiny between Megan and me, Megan’s parents for graciously giving us their blessing to get married, to Megan for being the beautiful/kind/intelligent/funny/and amazing woman that she is, and my little sister, Chloe, and her boyfriend, Dylan, for agreeing to shoot the above photographs of our Proposal in Paradise on Kaanapali North Beach “Airport Beach,” one of our favorite places to enjoy the sun and ocean.
