Waimea is the largest town on the northern side of the Big Island, resting between the Kohala mountains and Mauna Kea. The rich ranching culture of Waimea dates to the 1800’s, and rustic elements reflecting the community’s heritage are incorporated in the buildings around town. Waimea is surrounded by ranch and farmland, the most well-known among these being Parker Ranch, one of the oldest in the United States.
