B.A. in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine), University of Colorado

I was born and raised in Waikiki, on O‘ahu. Graduated from Kamehameha, the University of Colorado and then completed my MBA at the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa. Started my real estate career in Hawaii in 2005, and have closed more than 140 successful real estate transactions.

I genuinely believe in continuous learning, and bring a startup and entrepreneurial mindset to my real estate business. With an MBA and my experience working in our family business (Waikiki Food Concessions), running my own companies came naturally to me. I ran a real estate photography & videography business, a car detailing operation, and served as Director of Operations for a local high-tech start-up before launching my real estate career 14 years ago.

I’ve found that I love helping other families achieve homeownership and quickly learned to find cost-effective ways to add the most value to my seller's properties. Thru the years we have simplified the formula to "a well-prepared, well-marketed and well-priced property sells faster and for more money."

The possibilities of each home and finding ways to maximize value through renovation truly inspire me. I have taught myself over the past ten years (using YouTube and the advice of contractor friends) how to remodel units – improving cabinets, counters, flooring, baths, and kitchens. I now specialize in cosmetic rehabilitation for my clients, doing everything from painting homes inside and out, to planting palms to create privacy.

I like to market my listings by posting several short videos on social media that document the property’s transformation phase. These videos help to create buzz weeks before listing. I then capture the finished product with photography and videography, skills I honed as a business owner, with an eye for Hawaii’s incredible lifestyle.

Along the way, my wife and I have created our own home in Kuli'ou’ou with three beautiful children and a puppy. Our lives revolve around the beautiful Pacific Ocean and all the outdoor activities we can get our hands on, including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.

I am also a firm believer in giving back to our community. We volunteer and donate to Adopt-A-Highway, the American Cancer Society and do many street and beach clean-ups as a family.

I'm passionate about my family and work hard for them so that I can make a better future for my wife and kids. Our long term goal is to flip properties of our own. At home, my wife and kids inspire me to no end. Daily laughs, giggles, and adventures together are what keep my cup overflowing.

What my clients are saying...

Thank you, Jake Vaughan, for your professional services. I’ve sold and purchased many properties, and I can say unequivocally that no real estate sales agent has ever brought the kind of energy, industry and expertise as you have brought into selling our property. I have no doubt that your preparing and staging of our property and your toil and vigor was the largest and most important factor in its quick and successful sale. Mahalo and our best wishes for your continued success.
