Aloha, I’m Betty Jean, a proud Big Island native with a deep love for the place I’m fortunate to call home. I live in Waikoloa Village with my wonderful family and our playful dog, Cocoa, and I feel grateful every day to be surrounded by the beauty and spirit of Hawai‘i.

Before real estate, I spent more than 25 years in the hospitality industry, where I built lasting relationships and developed a strong commitment to thoughtful, personalized service. Those experiences continue to shape how I care for my clients today—with warmth, attention, and genuine aloha.

Situation: My husband and I sold a rental property in Alaska under a 1031 exchange with the hope of purchasing a replacement property in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
Problem: We were attempting to complete this transaction long distance from Alaska.
Solution: To find a competent and trustworthy realtor that would become our (the buyers’) advocate, guiding us through this detailed and daunting process.
And find her we did! We feel very grateful to Betty Jean Arias and for her outstanding service. Two days before arriving on the island, the condo property we exchanged for had closed and recorded, ready for us to move into. (We are making some minor renovations to it prior to listing it in Airbnb.)
Being long distance, all of our communication with Betty Jean was by text, email, and cell phone. Right away, we were impressed with her friendly, confident, and enthusiastic demeanor. She was attentive and responsive to our needs, very willing to take and send us pictures and videos, and find answers to our questions. Her understanding of the local housing market was helpful as we chose a property and then negotiated a fair deal. Once there was a signed contract, we appreciated Betty Jean’s attention to detail as she guided us step by step through the process to closing. There were many other players in this process (such as the broker, the escrow company, the home inspector); Betty Jean’s networking abilities were helpful as she introduced us to these professionals and coordinated the process between these people. She was willing to be on site for us as needed, since we were not on the island. She did whatever was necessary to ensure a smooth transition.
