I grew up in Oregon and at the age of 18 moved to Maui with a mountain bike and $400 in my backpack. Since then, I have established myself as a driven community leader and an innovative entrepreneur. I managed several retail boutiques in West Maui before deciding to move to South Maui in 1992. In 2003, I became a dual-business owner opening my first of two busy retail stores in Kihei while simultaneously starting my real estate business. In 2008, I decided to focus on real estate full-time and have been an industry leader ever since. My energy and enthusiasm allowed for significant success even in the most challenging times of the Maui real estate market. In 2019, I was named the Realtor Salesperson of the Year by the Realtors Association of Maui.
I am active with the South Maui community. The quintessential “soccer mom,” I supported my two sons’ numerous activities by serving as Regional Commissioner of AYSO and on the board of directors of many youth sports associations. I also dedicate my time to several ministries at Hope Chapel including Vertical Sports Maui and Na Ohana O Mana'olana Hula Halau, reflecting the local culture while giving praise to God. I spend 2 to 3 weeks each year on short-term mission trips in foreign countries like Mexico and Brazil, helping build homes and doing outreach for communities in need. For 15 months during the pandemic I led the food distribution at Hope Chapel Maui giving out 1.5 million pounds of food to ohana in need.
I enjoy challenging myself athletically, as well. I am an avid CrossFit athlete and am a CF-OL1 and Crossfit Kids Coach . I enjoy paddling, SUP boarding, surfing, and backpacking. I have competed in the 40-mile Molokai to Oahu Outrigger Canoe Championships several times and love to lead hikes through the Haleakala Crater. My husband, Tim and I, live in Kihei. My boys are all grown; oldest son, Tristan, recently graduated from Icon Collective with a degree in Music Engineering and Production and is a Na Hoku nominated musician. My younger son, Tanek, lives on Oahu and is a college graduate in Fire Science and is an avid bodyboarder who loves to travel in search of waves.
This is something we rarely, if ever do. But here is some important advice: If you are fortunate enough to live on Maui and you want to buy or sell your home, CALL ALANA RUCYNSKI at Alana @ the TopMauiHomes team at Wailea Realty Corp. We have known Alana for years, but we had no idea what a great realtor she is. When we first contacted her about the prospect of selling our home, she visited us with a virtual book loaded with area comps, tax history, sales history, history on our house and neighborhood and much more.
We had intended to sell “as is” until she walked the house with us and offered her suggestions. We did EXACTLY what she suggested we do – painting, carpeting, flooring, replacing appliances, etc. The result was spectacular and allowed us to sell at the highest price recorded in our neighborhood and we had multiple offers within hours and were in escrow within 48 hours!
What really sets her apart is how she walked us through every step of the process over the next month, advising us on what to expect next, and when to expect it, all the way through the signing process. She was always available, and returned our calls, typically within minutes. She guided us through what she called the inevitable “bumps in the road,” and was always friendly, gracious and above all, knowledgeable! In the future, we plan to buy a smaller home or condo and Alana will definitely be our realtor. She should be yours, too. SHE IS THE BEST!!! And no, she did not ask us to write this.
Alana and Lydia are truly the Top realtors. They first started showing us around Kihei and Wailea 18 months ago. They planted the seed of what it would be like for us to live in paradise. Finally with our home on the mainland in escrow we returned to Maui and within a week we found our permanent spot. They were patient, efficient, thoughtful and gave us excellent advice. We love Maui and we love Alana and Lydia
