Food, Fun, Friends, & Sailing – A Night of Celebration in Lahaina

You ever have one of those perfect dates? I mean perfect food, perfect company, and perfect conversation? My husband and I just did and with our favorite Hawai’i Life couple, Dave and Katie Minkus! Plate after plate of delicious food was the only reason we stopped talking, we certainly all know how to chat! Jonny, our waiter, even stopped to tell us how our table was the “most happening” in the place; I honestly don’t even remember anyone else being in the restaurant, between plates of ahi tuna with avocado, the sizzling rib eye, Vietnamese crepe, and let’s not forget those malasadas.

We had two events to celebrate…the upcoming WorthShop 5 that was being held at the Andaz-Wailea and my husband’s recent election as Lahaina Yacht Club’s commodore elect for 2016. Dave, who’s from the Big Island, had no idea he could become a LYC member. He can and so can you! There are different ways you can become a member, whether you live here part-time or full-time. Already a yacht club member? The club has reciprocity with most Marine or Water Activity clubs world-wide! And there’s an oceanfront clubhouse right in Lahaina town on world-renowned Front Street.

The Minkus’ and the Kaisers like to eat, and the club has a great everyday menu, including prime rib and lobster nights. They have their own nights! In case eating isn’t your primary extracurricular activity, there’s also sailing. 2016 will be very exciting as it’s time for the biennial Vic-Maui yacht club race, bringing over 20 boats from Victoria, B.C. to Lahaina, Maui. Can’t wait to see where and what we eat in Victoria!

Aloha for now,
Jill Kaiser
