2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions to be Held at Plantation Course, Kapalua Resort January 3-7, 2013

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is the season-opening event of the PGA TOUR and held at the legendary Plantation Course at the Kapalua Resort, Maui, Hawaii. This tournament is very unique because the qualified field features a winners-only format. Only champions from the 2012 PGA TOUR season are eligible to compete. There are 37 qualified players, who have until December 28th to commit to the tournament.

Not only is this an incredible opportunity to watch a professional golf tournament. This tournament has much smaller crowds to navigate to be able to see your favorite player(s) up close.

Volunteers Needed for 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions

A second reason I wanted to reach out to everyone is to let you know that they are still looking for some volunteers. Every year many volunteers who are either residents, like myself, or vacationers, volunteer for up to 5 days. Their participation is a large part of what makes this venue possible.

Volunteers are used in many areas, like on and off course transportation, on course marshalls, shotlink operators, scorekeepers, and much more. This year the tournament operators are still in need of a few more volunteers. You can go to volunteer information to register if you are interested.

2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Parking Map & Information

Parking is in high demand, so you cannot park at the golf tournament, instead there will be plenty of parking at the Honua Kai Resort, condominium complex, with a free shuttle service to the tournament. See below map and address.

2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Ticket and Venue Information

Tickets are on sale online at PGATOUR.COM/HYUNDAI and also on-island at the Kapalua Golf Shops, the Honolua Store, and select ABC Stores (Honokowai and Kihei store across from Kamaole Park I). There are new venues this year including an all amateur tournament at the Kapalua Bay Course on Wednesday, Jan 3rd.

You must remember also that still photography is only allowed on Wednesday, Jan 3rd during the Pro-Am tournament. No pictures on any other day, and no video on any days. The Pro-Am day is a great opportunity for getting all your autographs and pictures.

This tournament is more than just a golf tournament, it also contributes significantly to Maui. Since 1999 the host organizations of the event have distributed over $4 million to the Maui Community.
