Luxury Penthouses in Hawaii – Oahu's Drop Dead Digs For July, 2011

Penthouse living in Oahu’s most luxurious high-rise condominiums. The only thing better than vacationing in our little island paradise is owning your own luxury Oahu condominium. You don’t want just any condo—only the finest penthouses in the world will do.

Here are a few of my favorite Drop Dead Digs on the market now:

The Gold Coast classic

The Gold Coast Classic: 3003 Kalakaua Ave. #12B at the 3003 Kalakaua is listed at $3,900,000. This luxurious condo (MLS# 1104912) is oceanfront with sweeping views of crystal blue waters that stretch like shimmering silk over the horizon.

The Gold Coast neighborhood was developed in the 1960’s—this particular building in 1962. It has only one unit per floor and this particular unit has 2,304 interior square footage looking over the rippling waves of Waikiki Beach. It feels more like a luxury suite on a cruise liner with nothing standing between you and the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. It also comes with 1 parking space, which is highly desirable in this neighborhood—some buildings have no parking, so having a space is a bonus.

The unit was remodeled utilizing top-of-the-line materials and regal touches. The great thing about these few buildings, known as the Gold Coast, is the unique character of this small stretch of Waikiki Beach at the tip of Diamond Head. There is a traditional beauty that cannot be reproduced—the blend of classic design and modern luxury make this area like no other on Oahu. Not to mention the fact that each building is directly on one of the most famous beaches in the world.

It is difficult not to feel like you have been transported into the royal era of Hawaiian Kings and Queens when you look out over the bright blue ocean, or watch the orange, red, and purple clouds of sunset from the balcony of these rare gems. You will truly feel the warmth of Aloha with the ocean air sweeping gently across your face, thankful to experience one of the most beautiful views on earth.

Trump Tower Waikiki’s Diamond in the Sky

Trump Tower Waikiki’s Diamond in the Sky—Waikiki’s newest luxury condominium (MLS# 1105650) with everything you would expect. Penthouse Unit C epitomizes modern-day luxury and it is truly one-of-a-kind, listed at $9,980,000. It is a 2-story home with a 1,394 sq. foot roof top deck—you could seriously fit 50 people and everyone would have a grand view of the Pacific Ocean—all the way to the West Coast of Oahu and beyond—this is what the “top of the world” looks like in Paradise.

The living space of 2,260 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms takes full advantage of what everyone comes here for—views of the surf and spectacular sunsets. You have not lived until you have seen a full-featured sunset off the shores of Waikiki. The location is to die for—granted, it is not right on the ocean—all that land was coveted while Trump was still a child. No worries though, it is right across from DeRussy Beach (our tribute to the military). It is a wide open garden resort with an army museum reminding us to take a moment to remember how integral the military is in the Hawaii life.

The developers of Trump Waikiki built this prestigious luxury high-rise overlooking the gardens of DeRussy, giving the occupants the view of a beautiful garden stretching to the beautiful blue ocean. It is also steps from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, which houses every conceivable luxury item you could imagine, numerous restaurants, and access to Waikiki’s finest live entertainment. Everything you need is withing 1 block, so you never have to venture far to find food, fun, and sun.

Of course, this luxury destination comes with everything you expect from Trump Waikiki—personal attache service, custom stocked refrigerator (upon request), valet parking, personal assistance, shopping, an in-room personal chef (upon request), a spa, a 24-hour gym, Ty Gurney surf lessons, and my favorite, babysitting service. There are many more possibilities—too many to mention. If you want Hawaii luxury full-time or just part time—this is the place for you! Elegance, prestige, unparalleled service—and most importantly—ownership of a most coveted slice of paradise.

Palace in the Clouds—Imperial Plaza Unit PH 3903

Palace in the Clouds—Imperial Plaza Unit PH 3903 (MLS# 1108372), listed at $2,250,000, is a distinctive property that is like nothing else on the island. Its architecture and design are impeccable. Although I like this building for its convenient location and customized appeal, I never would have thought that THIS unit would be in THIS building. It is like finding a secret cave in a dense forest. Every detail was created to create a luxury experience.

Often times, you walk into an Oahu penthouse and you like some things, but think other things could have been done better to maximize the view, space, and architecture. Every inch of this luxury condominium was thought out to the nth degree. No detail left unnoticed. Because of the unusual use of edges, corners, and slants highlighting the exterior window walls, the choice of decor and color had to be done just right to make this home unbelievable.

When first hearing that this unit was coming on the market, the only thing that could describe it was “like nothing you have ever seen.” That is true—for sure—you have not seen a penthouse like this and THAT is what you want from a penthouse, right? The WOW factor. This has it, especially because you don’t expect it.

I didn’t even mention the specifics because they almost seem unnecessary—you just gotta see it. It has 3,293 interior square footage, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 3 parking spaces (I love parking! In Hawaii, parking is as important as view), was built in 1991, and redesigned by Dian Cleve in 2006. Did I say a must see? It is a must see…
