Talk Story #16 – Hawaiian Airlines and the New Honolulu Inter Island Terminal Lobby Design

Superb news! Hawaiian Airlines is funding and already started on the exciting change from a congested older lobby. A June completion date is planned and I am sure there will be a lot of ‘Aloha Spirit’ of gratitude by all who must travel through this inter-island lobby. It will be easier for visitors and residents alike, allowing Oahu arrivals and departures to move smoothly through the process of checking in themselves.

I understand there will be 6 circular ‘check-in islands’ making a total of 48 stations and the traveler just goes directly to the nearest available self service booth, a nearby beltway including an inclusive agricultural inspection is right there for luggage. I am looking forward to my own inter-island visits to the Big Island where I was a Realtor for 23 years selling and listing properties along the Kohala Coast, and still have clients to see and catch up with.

Hawaii beckons…beautiful sunsets, boating, cruises, the beaches, great fishing, music—way of life

Daytime fun in the ocean (pictured below), a lucky young man as he gets a friendly tow. I watched them laugh and take off near Magic Island at the Ala Moana Beach Park in the Kaka’ako area, it was a lovely evening and sunset also! A quiet and popular location not far from the more tourist and vibrant Waikiki.

From the bustle of the world shipping port activity and Honolulu business, to the peace and majesty of the mist clouded mountains as one crosses over and through the tunnels to the windward side of the island, the pace slows down and areas of old Hawaii show up more and more as one travels North.
