Many who come here say Kauai calls to them. The sheer beauty and relaxed lifestyle called to me and my family, and after many visits from our home in Boulder we now live here full time. In fact my husband’s family has quite a history on Kauai! His grandfather moved here in 1921 and became the county engineer – overseeing the building of the breakwater in Kalapaki Bay and the many charming one lane bridges on the North Shore!

After returning home from a vacation on Kauai, out of curiosity we submitted our name and phone number online to a Kauai real estate office. Patsy Garlinghouse called me right away with a great attitude. I told her that we were not really in the market for anything, but if there was a very particular type of unit at a specific complex on Kauai, I could be interested. I knew I was being unrealistic. Patsy explained that, of course, such units are so attractive and so few that they are rarely on the market. Nonetheless, she wasted no time to set up the search and start tracking. Amazingly, within four days she presented to me exactly what I had dreamed of, and with her efforts we were in contract to buy the property within four days after that. This was supernatural, and entirely thanks to Patsy’s diligence. Her great service didn’t end with the completion of the purchase either. She was instrumental to solving a post-closing matter in my favor, and I also greatly benefited from her referrals for refurbishing the property and other on-island services. In sum, even if it is a rather tall order, you should tell Patsy Garlinghouse what you would really want because you may get exactly that.
