What Does A Million Dollar View Look Like On Maui?

Have you ever wondered what a million dollar view looks like on Maui? We’ve all heard that highly subjective descriptive term before, but never quite know what it means. I’m proud to present to you a true million dollar view from a stunning remodeled home in Upcountry Maui!

It’s Like Moving Into A Brand New Home!

The two-story, 5 bedroom home at 65 Piimauna Place was thoughtfully renovated by a licensed contractor during the first half of 2019. Both inside and out, almost everything is brand new! Other than the incredible bicoastal ocean view, probably my favorite feature is the grand staircase of hand-milled red oak and custom glasswork that welcomes you inside the fire-engine red front door. The walls were opened up, and ceilings lifted in the entry to invite in so much natural light as you ascend upwards into the main living area. After you pick your jaw up off the floor from seeing those views, take a look to your left at the kitchen. There’s a giant peninsula with quartz countertops, a wide eat-in bar, and a gas cooktop. Plenty of room for both an espresso machine and wine fridge, too! Durable luxury vinyl plank flooring is soft on your feet as you work your way through the home. On this upstairs level is the first of two master suites with lanai access and more of those fabulous views, plus an additional bedroom and well-appointed full bath. The large lanai is partially covered and runs the length of the house… perfect for indoor-outdoor living. Downstairs is a comfortably-sized second family room, the larger of the two master suites, two additional bedrooms, and another full bathroom plus a separate laundry room accessible via a pocket door. This lower floor has access both to the backyard and the oversized two-car garage with storage cabinets and a washbasin.

Curb Appeal

The house is set back from the road at the rear of the quarter-acre lot for privacy. A new roof, fresh paint, gutters, and a new solar water heater were all a part of the big renovation, along with enlarging the entry staircase and front porch. The lot has mature plumeria trees and coconut-producing palms. Freshly planted hedges of panax (a resilient, fast-growing hedge that can grow up to 25 feet tall) and night-blooming jasmine around the perimeter are filling in nicely. There is plenty of room in the yard to build an ohana dwelling if you choose — the Kua’aina Ridge neighborhood CC&Rs allow for it, subject to county building code and regulations.

The Kua’aina Ridge Location

Kua’aina Ridge is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Upcountry Maui. The low monthly HOA dues take care of roadway maintenance, street lights, common area landscaping, and sidewalks. That bonus feature makes it one of the best spots for trick-or-treating on Halloween! The community-minded neighborhood also hosts an annual group garage sale each May. Kua’aina Ridge is a quick turn off of the Old Haleakala Hwy — easily accessible from all directions. It’s a 15-minute drive to the airport, Target, Costco, and all the big retailers of Central Maui. Just a five to ten-minute drive from the small boutiques, restaurants, markets, and farms that Makawao and Kula are known for. And only a 15-minute drive to the beaches of Maui’s North Shore. The best of all worlds!
