Top 5 Reasons Why People Love Living in Kailua | Oahu

People love living in Kailua. It is one of the most popular residential areas on Oahu. Kailua is not only extremely scenic, but it’s also a true beach town. That laid-back atmosphere is enjoyed by current residents and beachgoers who visit the pristine beaches. There is no denying that Kailua is beautiful, but what makes it such a draw for so many? Let’s take a look at the top 5 reasons, starting with the famous Kailua Beach.

1. Kailua Beach

The turquoise ocean waves flow gently onto the golden sand of Kailua Beach. The beach is approximately 2.5 miles long with Kailua Beach Park on one end and oceanfront homes fronting the remainder of the beach. Kailua Beach is often rated as the #1 beach on Oahu, which makes living in Kailua all that more appealing. Residents and tourists flock to this pristine location to enjoy the sand and to play in the waves. The location and the light breeze also makes this a perfect spot for windsurfers and kiteboarders.

2. Kailua Town

A true beach town, Kailua Town, is all about laid-back attire, local shopping, and good food. The town is filled with businesses catering to residents and tourists alike. Local brands showcase their merchandise while activity shops offer diving excursions and kayak rentals. Residents living in Kailua, however, don’t have to go far for everyday goods either. Target, Whole Foods, Foodland, and Longs Drugs are all in Kailua Town as well, as are local and national restaurants. The town offers everything for everyday living in a beautiful, beachy setting.

3. Kailua Homes

Kailua real estate is primarily made up of single-family homes with a few condos. Kailua homes range from small homes dating back to the 1940s to new multi-million dollar oceanfront residences. Lush vegetation, pools, and spacious yards are found throughout the area. Hillside homes often have stunning ocean views. Kailua residents who prefer condo living can find condos and townhomes within a short distance of Kailua Town center, making the Kailua lifestyle all the more appealing.

4. Lanikai

Lanikai is a sought after residential community in Kailua. The stunning ocean views and beachfront living are what dreams are made of. Luxury oceanfront and hillside residences offer the most stunning turquoise ocean views on Oahu. Nā Mokulua islets (The Mokes), located a short distance from Lanikai Beach, are found on postcards, in travel magazines, and fortunately for Lanikai residents, in front of their homes.

5. Location

The Windward side of Oahu has striking Ko’olau mountain views. The three highways, Pali, Likelike, and H3, that run through these breathtaking mountains allow residents living in Kailua to easily and quickly make their way to Honolulu and the West side of Oahu. The adjacent Kaneohe is also minutes away. Shopping, medical, and entertainment (restaurants, movie theatre, and the Kaneohe Sandbar) are easily accessible for Kailua residents. The convenient location adds to the appeal of this fun and beautiful beach town.

I have been planning to retire in Kailua for a long time and I feel the need to start getting my affairs lined up to finally make it happen. I have researched Kailua extensively and find that it truly is a good match. I hope we are able to talk soon and perhaps I can learn something from you since you are already living there.

> Aloha Georgia. Kailua is a great place. It’s laid back, beachy, yet close enough to Honolulu for anything that is not available right in Kailua. Perfect combination. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. I will be happy to help.
