Jeremy & Megan Stice are Proud New Owners at the Honua Kai Resort

My wife, Megan Stice, and I are extremely proud to now call ourselves homeowners at Honua Kai. This is literally a dream come true for Megan and me, and we have been working very hard the last couple of years to make it happen. The beach area that fronts Honua Kai will always hold a special place in our heart as this is where I proposed to Megan a couple years ago. Read the full story on my proposal in paradise here.

Jeremy Proposal

I proposed to Megan on the sandy shores fronting Honua Kai just south of the Hokulani tower in the summer of 2011. Megan and I are now coming up on our one year wedding anniversary.

Connecting Honua Kai Buyers & Sellers – Smart Marketing & Solid Representation

I recently sent out a letter to the Honua Kai ownership community sharing that we were actively looking to purchase a unit at Honua Kai and to let me know about all available opportunities. I received several different replies, one of which was for Hokulani 833 – an ocean view studio unit on the interior courtyard.

Megan and I decided that this was an opportunity that we could not pass up. We decided to partner with the owners of Hokulani 825, a three bedroom unit which I represented the owners on for their purchase in 2013 for $2.2M; Megan and I now professionally manage their property as well. In the event that you are interested in this direct ocean view 3 bedroom unit for a vacation rental, please click here.

We were able to secure Hokulani 833 for $725,000 and closed on May 7, 2014. We couldn’t be happier about being part of the diverse and wonderful ownership group at Honua Kai. We will be renting our studio unit out full time and if you are interested in seeing or booking it, please visit here: Hokulani 833 Vacation Rental.

From Haiku to Ka’anapali

I grew up in the small town of Haiku on Maui’s North Shore, but decided to make the move to West Maui in 2010 when I met Megan after assisting her parents on their purchase of a home in Ka’anapali that we now live in together.

I have always loved Ka’anapali – my high school friends at Seabury Hall and I used to wake up a the crack of dawn and drive from Upcountry Maui to Ka’anapali Beach so that we could skimboard the beach in front of the Ka’anapali Ali’i without all the tourist traffic, jump off Black Rock and the backside that faces North Ka’anapali Beach, and then grind our favorite local food at our classmate’s family restaurant, Hula Grill and Leilanis.

I was starting to get pretty serious island fever at the end of 2009 and was seriously considering moving to Southern California, but then I met Megan and that all changed very quickly. We decided that West Maui was now going to be home for us and that I wanted to focus my real estate practice on higher end resort type properties. I soon discovered Honua Kai, the diamond in the rough that was coming out of some very tough economic times in 2008 and 2009.

The “Fire Sales” at Honua Kai in 2011

When the developer decided to drastically cut prices on select units in 2011, I encouraged my very first clients and now close personal friends, Charles Bodock and Cheryl Reichart of Great Falls, Montana, to take a look at the project. They absolutely loved it and roughly 60 days later they became owners at Honua Kai. Read the full story about Charles and Cheryl purchasing a property at Honua Kai.

I always firmly believed that Honua Kai had all the great aspects of being a first-class resort and investment property. Honua Kai is situated on a beautiful white sand beach in perfect climate conditions where it’s sunny the vast majority of the year but the tradewinds keep it cool. It was built in 2008 and 2009 with high-end finishes and quality construction. The onsite Duke’s Restaurant would drive tons of traffic to the resort. The rental occupancy and financial figures at Honua Kai were becoming progressively better each day.

What’s Hot at Honua Kai Today?

Fast forward to present day – I have assisted roughly one dozen buyers and/or sellers at Honua Kai with their real estate transactions. Megan and I run a very successful vacation rental program at Honua Kai as we now manage 4 different units at the resort:

Hokulani #825 – panoramic ocean views from the living area, lanai, and all three bedrooms from this immaculate 3 bed/3 bath suite.

Konea #607 – my clients just recently closed on this inner courtyard 2 bed/2 bath true ocean view property in Konea.

Konea #604 – this 2 bed/2 bath unit is right accross the hall from Konea #607 making it perfect for larger groups traveling together. This is the value two bedroom unit with huge mountain and rainbow views as well as partial ocean views.

Hokulani #833 – our inner courtyard ocean view studio is the perfect romantic getaway or honeymoon suite in Maui. Come join us and enjoy all that Honua Kai has to offer.

Aloha from Ka’anapali, Maui,
