A Perfect Backdrop for Kaneohe Homes on Oahu | Ko’olau Mountain Range
The Ko’olau Mountain Range is a breathtaking backdrop for many residents of the Windward (eastern) side of Oahu. The views from many of the Kaneohe homes are simply stunning. The mountains are lush and green, and so grand, and it’s this tropical paradise that draws people to this side of the island. Unlike the busy city life of Honolulu, Kaneohe offers tranquility, tropical vegetation, and a slower pace of life. Located just 30 minutes from Waikiki, Kaneohe is a popular residential area on Oahu.
The spectacular Ko’olau Mountain Range behind Kaneohe Homes.
Kaneohe residents enjoy both mountain and ocean views from their homes. In fact, many of the Kaneohe homes are also located along the coastline. Buyers who desire oceanfront living on the Windward side, have the option of looking at homes in Kaneohe and Kailua.
While Kaneohe is a smaller town, the day to day amenities are close by. Grocery shopping, coffee shops, gyms, and restaurants are all in town. Windward Mall, with over 100 stores, also offers nationally recognized brands, and merchandise from local Hawaiian merchants.
Kaneohe is located on the Windward (eastern) side of Oahu, with easy commute to Honolulu, and several military bases.
Commuting to and from Kaneohe to other areas of Oahu, including Honolulu, and the western communities of Ewa Beach and Kapolei, is easy. There are three major roadways that cut through the Ko’olau Range; Pali Highway, Likelike Highway, and the H3 freeway. The scenery is amazing along all three routes, but the H3 is a clear winner in my option… especially when it rains. At the rare times of heavy rain, multiple waterfalls begin to flow from the mountain ridges. It’s a beautiful event to witness. Even rain in Hawaii is beautiful. We truly live in paradise!
Ocean views from Kaneohe neighborhoods.
The climate in Kaneohe is a little more tropical than in other areas of Oahu. Beautiful plants, trees, and palms cover mountains, and the neighborhoods. It’s a very green area, and a very picturesque area live in.
The turquoise waters of Kaneohe Bay are also as popular to look at, as they are to be on. For people lucky enough to have access to a boat, the Kaneohe Sandbar is an ocean playground. Located along the outer edge of the bay, the sand formation appears and disappears with the moving tides. It’s literally like a beach in the middle of the ocean. Super fun!
The architecture of Kaneohe is as diverse as it’s landscape. No two homes are exactly the same, and if there are any, there are very few of them. Different roof-lines, styles, and fences, create diverse, yet beautiful neighborhoods. For home buyers who desire a property that has its own style and personality, often with amazing views of the Ko’olau Mountains or the ocean, checking out homes in Kaneohe could be a welcome surprise.
