I love being surrounded by beauty, and in my opinion, there is nothing more beautiful than the backdrop of the Mauna Kea Resort on the Big Island. The cherry on the top is Villa #39 is footsteps from the amazing Kauna’oa beach.

Restaurants at the Mauna Kea Resort are some of my favorite places to rub shoulders and be seen. There are four fabulous restaurants on property, Number 3, Manta, the Copper Bar, and of course the beach bar, Hau Tree. It’s the stunning eye candy of the vast ocean views and landscaping that intrigues me the most. Surrounded by exotic Hawaiian trees and flowers creates the perfect setting for those “aha” moments.

The Mauna Kea Resort is a legend. Originally founded by the Rockefellers in 1965, the resort has a spread of class and sophistication.

Here Are 5 of My Favorite Activities to Explore at the Mauna Kea Resort:

1. Nightly Manta Rays at the Mauna Kea Point

There is a bright light shining on the ocean after sunset that attracts the plankton for the manta rays to feast on. This creates quite an exciting experience watching these gentle giants gracefully flow in the water.

2. Golfing

Did I mention that Mauna Kea has one of the top golf courses in the state, created by Robert Trent Jones Sr. I especially enjoy the gorgeous, endless ocean views as I perfect my game.

FYI Robert Trent Jones Jr. is one of my dear friends. He is such an amazing human and cares so much for our beautiful planet.

When I toured the Mauna Kea golf course with Robert a few years ago, he mentioned when his late Dad met with the Rockefeller back in the day and the Rockefeller asked if a golf course can be built on the crazy black lava, a project destined for greatness. He picked up some A’a lava and smashed them together, they crumbled and he said YES, I can and will build you a golf course. I love sharing this story.

Mauna Kea Golf Course

This 18-hole championship golf course has set the standard for Hawaii golf for generations. Created in 1964 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. is considered the benchmark for all other golf courses in Hawaii. Mauna Kea Golf Course was recently rated the #1 golf course on the Big Island and #12 overall by Golf Magazine.

Are you ready to roll out of bed onto your favorite fairways?

3. Schmoozing with the Locals

I have met the most interesting people and made friends for life. Yes, you can own a piece of the legend. Many vacationers that I have met have been coming to the Mauna Kea Resort for years and years with their families and friends and dream of calling Mauna Kea home, well you can. Mauna Kea Resort offers real estate opportunities and provides a broad range of pricing options and include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and vacant land, in the following neighborhoods:

  • Fairways at Mauna Kea South
  • Fairways at Mauna Kea North
  • Villas at Mauna Kea

  • Bluffs
  • High Bluffs
  • Kauna’oa at Mauna Kea
  • Kumulani at the Uplands
  • Moani Heights
  • Apa’apa’a Heights
  • Wai’ula’ula at Mauna Kea Property
  • and New to the Mauna Kea family is the Amaui Villas

4. Taking a Long Sunset Walk Along Kauna’oa White Sand Beach

Watching closely as the sun sets over the ocean to catch the “Green Flash.” This is such a treat and a beautiful closure for my day.

5. Shopping

And of course, as a bit of a shopaholic, Mauna Kea Resort has some beautiful boutiques. My favorite the Mauna Kea branded logo apparel makes me proud to wear such a world-class logo on my shoulder.

I would love to invite you to join me, so if you’re reading this, give me a jingle or email and let’s go grab a drink at the Hau Tree and chat about all the things we are grateful for.
