Kakaako Parks and Playgrounds | Honolulu Condo Living With Kids

Kakaako parks and playgrounds play a vital role in the revitalization of Honolulu’s urban core. With the explosion of condos in Kakaako, more people are moving into the area, where beautiful views and a convenient lifestyle are hallmarks of the area. While the lifestyle seems perfect for many, parents with younger kids may be wondering if living in the urban lifestyle is right for them. The good news is that Kakaako is a wonderful neighborhood for everyone, pets included. Parks and playgrounds are a part of the neighborhood and are also incorporated into the designs of many of the Kakaako condo buildings.

Kakaako Parks and Hidden Playgrounds

Kakaako’s landscape is quickly changing. With new buildings popping up, it’s easy to assume that green space is disappearing. It is actually increasing. Commercial garages and various shops have occupied Kakaako for years. The area was always fairly industrial in nature with narrow alleyways leading from one block of warehouses to another.  With the addition of condo buildings to the area, green spaces are also being incorporated into the neighborhood design. Residents love these parks!

Ward Village

Honolulu’s Ward Village in Kakaako is redefining the area with the 60 acre residential master plan. The entire development is going to bring more trees and green spaces to the area to make the space fun and beautiful. In not so distant future, Ward Village will add a 1 acre park that will be situated directly behind Gateway Towers. The park will be a gathering place to be enjoyed by all Kakaako and Ward Village residents.

Ala Moana Beach Park

The beautiful part of living in Kakaako is the close proximity to Ala Moana Beach Park. The park is a favorite of many people who are just looking to play on the grass, in the sand, or to have picnics with friends and family. We’re lucky in Honolulu to have so many beaches and parks close by, and to have one as close as across the street, is definitely a treat for Kakaako and Ala Moana residents.

Playgrounds… They’re everywhere!

When driving through Kakaako, it is not possible to see all the amenity decks for all the condo buildings. For the most part, they are located high above the street level. However, that’s where many of the playgrounds are located. Play structures are incorporated into the designs of the buildings. While not all condos in Honolulu have these beautiful amenities, they are fairly standard in Kakaako. Residents and guests have full use of the fun areas, which in many instances include playgrounds with play structures for kids.

Kakaako… A Great Place To Call Home!

The number of Kakaako parks and playgrounds is growing. With each new building and an area being developed, new green spaces are being added. People love the natural beauty of Hawaii, and so much of that is being brought into the urban core of Honolulu. It is not all concrete as some may believe. Development happens naturally. We cannot prevent change. However, making the change from industrial warehouses into beautiful living areas filled with trees, plants, parks, is an idea many love. Kakaako is immensely popular, and that draw into the urban core of Honolulu is getting stronger and stronger for people. No matter the age of the residents, there are spaces and places for everyone to enjoy. Kakaako parks and playgrounds are definitely part of the landscape.
