As a Broker, you are always looking for ways to get your listing to stand out from the crowd. Most will just do the traditional photos, possibly a night shot if there are feeling daring, MLS, a sign in the yard, and a lot of hope and prayer. Well, for our new listing at 280 Poipu Dr in Honolulu, we went full bore and really sent it.
We were tired of the traditional video home walk-through and thought about what we could do that would be cutting edge, different, and get solid market attention. Then we saw the viral FPV (First Person Video) that was shot in a Minnesota bowling alley by Jay from Rally Studios. We thought, now that is cool, but could you do this for real estate and not just a commercial space?
Setting the Scene
One thing led to another, and a plan was hatched. We flew in Jay, who shot the bowling video, to Hawaii and started to make a movie. This was a full-blown production. We had high-end Porche’s brought in for the garage car lifts, a Ferrari from Velocity Honolulu, and a new 2021 Corvette C8. One thing is for sure — our new listing at 280 Poipu Dr in Hawaii Kai was going to get all the attention this eight-figure listing deserved.
Next was a chef, a diver, a piano player, and a whole bunch of talent for the video. The actors were staged in various sections of the palatial oceanview estate to highlight all the uses the home has. We had a family in the movie theater room, kids in the bedrooms, a piano player playing music, a real chef grilling in the inside kitchen and one chef working the chicken on the outdoor grill. There were people having drinks, conversation, someone doing yoga by the pool, and a person working out in the home gym. The house was busy with our people ready to make a video.
Lights, Camera, and Drone
The next thing you know we had the drone flying through every nook and cranny of the home to show our scenes. In and out of tight spaces, through the piano top, in between the walls, around corners, the garage lifts and so close you could feel the drone’s blades whip your hair. It was simply amazing to be a part of, to watch it all come together, and more importantly to have the vision to try something new and different to market this amazing home.
