Steve Latham

The love of my life, Shawnee and I moved to this garden island paradise almost ten years ago from Michigan. We love the people, life style, beauty and weather of Kauai. We were married on Lumahai beach, on the same spot Mary Martin sang her famous song in the iconic South Pacific movie.

I have been playing senior softball the last nine years. The little island of Kauai has 16 teams and in the years past have dominated the state final brackets. Once our island won four of the eight brackets. Every year the state tournament is held on a different island. This year we were on the Big Island for the tournament in August. Next year, Kauai will host.

Having never played before, I have found a passion for the game, however even more importantly I have developed many strong friendships with the people that have grown up on the island. Some tell me stories of working at the Coco Palms and how Elvis would always tip with a $50.

Any time we go shopping in Lihue or Kapaa, we will see people from our church, softball or a Princeville friend. The warmth and friendliness of Kauai is amazing.

Previous to joining Hawaii Life, I was a Realtor/Broker for Oceanfront Sotheby’s/Century 21, averaging close to 12 million dollars in sales a year. Obtaining Centurion sales status and a multiyear Quality Service award winner.

I feel it is important to give back to the organization that supports Realtors on the island, which is the Kauai Board of Realtors. I have served on the Board of Directors, the committee for Habitat for Humanity and four years on the Grievance Committee, two of the years I was the chair person.

Before moving to Kauai, I was the founder and CEO of Travel 2000, a retail luggage store found in most top end malls east of the Mississippi river. Obtaining a peak of 75 stores, catalog operation and web site employing over 350 employees and sales of over $35,000,000.
