I’ve been a real estate professional for a dozen years and a Hawaii resident for three decades. Originally from Ohio, I moved to Europe to work for the U.S. Army in a civilian role at the young age of 23. After time spent abroad, in Seattle and Minnesota, I served for 22 years in various roles at Hickam Air Force Base.
There, I held the positions of Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor, Plans Specialist and OPSEC Manager, and I was responsible for coordinator six RIMPAC exercises.
My experience working with active duty military personnel led naturally to a genuine interest in assisting the military families. I hold the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) designation from the National Association of Realtors, and I understand the particular needs of active duty service members and their families.
One of my greatest achievements in this profession has been earning the trust of my clients. In one instance, I knew my client and her preferences so well that she followed through with the purchase of a $3 million home in Hawaii while she was working in Europe, without ever seeing the property.

If you need an outstanding Real Estate Professional, may I recommend Marilyn Hamada? Marilyn’s knowledge of the Oahu market place, and her service as a real-estate professional, and now friend, is priceless. Since 2014, we have purchased three properties with Marilyn’s assistance, which includes two homes and one investment property.
What sets Marilyn apart is her willingness to go above and beyond what one might expect of a real estate professional. For example, the first property we bought with Marilyn was an investment property, purchased (2014) while we lived on the east coast of the mainland. Unable to find the property we were after while visiting Oahu earlier in the year, Marilyn continued to send us information on properties for several months after we left, AND visited the properties we were interested in. Essentially, she was our eyes and ears in Hawaii, taking and sending photos to us, along with her professional opinion on the condition of the properties and feel of the neighborhoods. I cannot stress enough how important this was for us. As mainlanders wanting to find an investment property in Hawaii, it was important for us to have someone we could rely on and trust. With her help and guidance, we found and closed our first property in Waikiki in 2014 after several months of searching.
In March of 2016, we relocated to Honolulu. As before, Marilyn was there for us, and helped us find our home in Kakaako in July. Two years later, with her help, we purchased another property in Waikiki. In summary, if you are looking for dedicated, knowledgeable realtor, who’ll look after your best interests as if they were her own, you would do well to consider contacting Marilyn Hamada.
So if you want to purchase a house long distance, just ask Marilyn to help. We looked at houses for three months and she knew what we wanted but none was available. So when one came on the market two months after we left the Island, Marilyn handled all the purchase and closing details from inspections to loan officers and insurance. Just ask Marilyn if you have a complicated house purchase in mind. We appreciated all her attention to detail and now love the house we live in.
