REALTOR SALESPERSON

As a Hawai’i Island real estate agent, I've been committed to helping my clients achieve their goals for over three decades. While I focus on the island’s west side, I also help sellers and buyers from Hilo to Ocean View find exactly what they want.

Born in Berwick, PA and raised in St. Louis, MO, I moved to Hawai’i in 1979. After missing the cutoff for the firefighter physical exam by 0.002 of a second and consequently missing the chance to be the state’s first female firefighter, I sought out a career that was more female-friendly while allowing me to run my orchid and nursery business… Real estate was it! I continued as a volunteer firefighter for six years and by 1989, I had my real estate license. Since then, I’ve seen the market spike at least three times and have noticed an important pattern: What goes up always comes down. I’ve also seen how Hawaii’s diversity sets the island apart from other real estate markets. My familiarity with the island’s different areas and neighborhoods enables me to succeed in finding my clients just what they are looking for.

One of the highlights of my career was selling a 2600-acre oceanfront conservation property with a backup offer behind a buyer with a non-refundable $50,000 EMD. And earlier this year, I had clients fly in from Puerto Rico and before I even met with them, they looked at my first listing and had me write it up. Seeing them find the right property and how happy they are with their nearly 50 acres is why I do what I do. Doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason and being honest is what I’m all about.

Professionally, I'm thrilled to work at Hawai’i Life with such supportive, positive people. Personally, I’m proud to be a Mom, as well as a paddler who has raced across the Molokai Channel. I began outrigger paddling with Keoua Canoe Club years ago, when there were no koa canoes. So I started the Mac-a-thon, the island's oldest annual 5 and 10k race, with a handful of other paddlers and the funds from the race paid for our first koa canoe.

Whether you want to buy your first house or you’re selling hundreds of acres, I look forward to putting my deep community ties, extensive knowledge of Hawai’i Island, and real estate experience to work for you!

Aloha,
Katharine
