Knowledge, Experience, and Efficiency Simplifies the Process of Buying a Maui Vacation Home

From initial contact on July 1, 2018 to closing on September 18 — trip to Maui on July 13, home found and closed mid-September. Owning a vacation home on Maui is closer than you might think.

Knowing the market and the inventory made for an efficient use of everyone’s time. Once we gathered enough of the information to through dialog about needs and wants, a specific list of properties that fit the criteria went out via email. Days later, we were looking at properties on a whirlwind tour of Upcountry Maui.

Preselecting a few homes with tentative second showings insured us that we would see the top homes at a less frenetic pace and allow time for our guests to take in the details, surroundings of each property.

Finding the Perfect Maui Vacation Home

In the end, we settled on Omaopio Ridge. This unique area boasts a private water system, mainly powered by Photovoltaic panels for near self-sufficiency. The 5-9 acre lots have kept dry land kiawe (mesquite) forest for privacy or some have gone with olive farms in this unique Mediterranean sub-climate of Maui at the 1200-1400′ elevation.  The homes are accessed off of Ikena Kai Place, a small cul de sac off of Omaopio Road. With gulches on both sides of the ridge, the sense of tranquility and quiet is impressive, especially while only being 12-15 minutes from Maui’s Airport and the commercial hub of Kahului (often known as Costco:)).

The lots are home to deer, pheasant, and pueo. The sun, soil, water, and protection from most tradewinds, this area is also prized for personal farming of palms, vegetables, fruits, and other native flora.

101 Ikena Kai was the home chosen by my Buyers after deciding between our top 3 properties. This home sits on 6 sprawling acres boasting a comfortable 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom living area designed by renowned architect Hunton Conrad. The game room, family room and large garage with workshop round out this comfortable home. The 9-foot ceilings, limestone counters, and central vacuum system are some of the fantastic accompaniments. Enjoy indoor-outdoor living with a kitchen and living room that leads out to a sprawling lanai. Surrounded by gardens and lush tropical flowers, providing privacy, room or horses or expansive gardens and a flexibility in the future with room to expand. The sale included a Polaris to cruise around and enjoy the land and a pool table to entertain with in the evenings. My buyers look forward to building memories from this fantastic estate home. Congratulations and thank you again for another referral and now great family friend.

Lots Currently Available

There are 2 lots available at Omaopio Ridge to build your own paradise. Lot owners will have some flexibility on vision and placement and some of the details in bringing the build together.
