Elegant Country Estate

Along the Hamakua coast, there is a sweet spot called Ahualoa. During the summer months, you will find the most exotic flower in bloom called the kahili ginger. The nearby heritage town of Honokaa is just three miles away directly below the rural estates peppering the landscape above Honokaa town. Winding roads throughout the area are shaded by the canopy of eucalyptus trees planted in the area. There are stately ohia lehua trees as well as aromatic white and yellow ginger blossoms. The 5-acre parcel here is thoughtfully landscaped. The gated entrance meanders past a large stocked fish pond flanked by mature bamboo stalks. Mallard ducks reside in the pond and frequent the pond edges. Situated at the end of a long driveway is the plantation styled home featuring a three-sided wrap around covered lanai which opens into a 24-foot vaulted great room.

The private enclave is just ten miles from Waimea town. This is priced at $1,069,000 and is listed as MLS 611779 and includes a principal residence, guest house, Ag building, hot tub, woodshed, catchment tank, stocked fish pond, banana grove, and small citrus orchard.

On the property, there is a guest quarters with a 1/1 and kitchen and it is attached to a four car covered parking space. There is also an agriculture building finished to be a flex space. This structure has a shower/toilet and kitchenette. This could be an office, yoga studio or artists space. On either side of the flex space are generous storage sheds. Think about storage for all your outdoor gardening tools and your riding lawn mower. Think workshop or tack room on the other side. On the property, you will also see a catchment tank for additional water or as a primary water source for the individual who likes a sustainable lifestyle. A large banana grove is rending over with a heavy fruit yield and the companion orchard is dotted with citrus fruits.

The principal residence is solidly built and has custom finishes throughout. An 18-foot entertainment/bookshelf spans the main living area and is overlooked by a full service gourmet kitchen. Each of the two large bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. Both bedrooms and the office have double french doors (three sets of double French doors) with access to the lanai. The bedrooms have bamboo hardwood floors in the main house. The guest bathroom has a custom dome shaped ceiling with a hand-painted red ginger mural. The office has built-in desk and cabinetry, and there is a spacious loft above it. Other features of the exterior patio/covered lanai are the murals in the cement. Some are of whales and others are of tropical fish. This home has eight skylights that were installed within the last few years, which add light and air to the main residence great room. Ahualoa offers the privacy of the country within a short distance to town.
