I had my wedding at the house. It was so wonderful to have it as a base camp for our friends and family.I can't wait to stay there again for our anniversary!

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. Location, location, location!!! Beautiful and right on the beach at Hanalei Bay. Our thanks to Hawaii Life for facilitating our stay here!

Fantastic time! No complaints just suggestions.
Such a wonderful location, loved the simplicity of the cottage, the grounds, the old world charm. To make it 100% first rate, heres my list of improvements.
1)We love to cook, knives were absolutely terrible.
2)Bedding wasn't great, just ok. Could have used an extra blanket on a couple of chilly nights, we like to sleep with lots of fresh air.
3)Bed was a bit weary too.
4)Would be nice to have hot water in outdoor shower of cottage.

Thank you, we feel very lucky to have found and stayed in the cottage. Special place!

A Gem on Hanalei Bay

Everything about this cottage is great. It’s very clean, well kept, neat, and well stocked. It sits right at the heart of Hanalei Bay with exceptional views and is an easy walk (1 ½ blocks) to the heart of Hanalei town. The cottage is very quiet and private. It has its own privacy from the main house next door yet we had use of the entire estate, including the shaded hammock strung between palm trees, the volleyball net, the vast lawn, and of course the access to the beach.

We enjoyed the BBQ charcoal grill, boogie boards, beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, as well as the linens and towels provided for inside. The kitchen is well stocked with a 4-cup coffee maker, toaster, ice maker, microwave, full refrigerator, stove/oven, TV, and iPod dock, plus a washer and dryer. Everything was of good quality and in excellent condition. The cottage also has a small safe for protecting personal items.

This property is so well contained we enjoyed all of our meals on site, either on the beach, on the large porch overlooking the property and bay, or inside at the dining table. Shopping is conveniently a short walk away, as are restaurants, churches, and other services.

The cottage is quaint, private and a perfect place for two. This property is a gem and historical. It takes you back to an earlier period in Hawaii. We will be back and plan to rent the entire property for the whole family. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for location, charm and privacy.

PARADISE BUT BRING THE SUGAR

Review Submitted: 03-07-2013

Unbelievably beautiful setting and a lovely small comfortable cottage-- but there were few stables: no sugar, oil, butter, laundry detergent, condiments and limited spices. At the rental price these basics should be provided. We left a new supply of staples but they probably will be gone prior to the next occupant. Suggest a DVD as well as a CD player that is usually provided at rentals of this level. Did not contact concierge during visit but did receive comprehensive written info and a call prior to stay.

Amazing Location in Magical Area

Pre-arrival - Generally very helpful people at Hawaii Life - a bit of confusion going back and forth on requests/contracts/arrival instructions but ended up ok. We reserved somewhat last minute so I'm sure that was a challenge.

Location - doesn't get any better. We never saw the folks in the main house, felt totally private in our cottage. Our lanai was priceless with the view of the beach across the lawn. We drove all over the island and walked the town and would not have wanted to stay anywhere else.

Staff: We got great info when we needed it, left alone when we needed it, and help when it was totally inconvenient for the staff - thank you!

Property: The house could use a few updates inside (bathroom and main area floors) but was clean enough and had a funky/historic feel.

Chickens: I didn't realize chickens and roosters would wake us up every morning - not much to be done but to recommend people bring earplugs or install a window AC so you can sleep with windows closed if you want to.

The area: So much to do (hiking, surfing, running on the beach, swimming, etc.). Beautiful and just remote enough with plenty of stores/restaurants within walking distance.

Very positive.

What an amazing location! The cottage is definitely quaint and not fancy, but it had everything we needed to be comfortable. Loved the local chickens who pecked around throughout the days and our time went by way too fast. Being just steps from the beach made for easy morning or evening walks in between ocean play and beach time. We had a couple days of very high surf that kept us out of the water but it was exciting to watch the surfers brave enough to head out. The property manager was easy to work with and always available for questions. How can you not have a good time on Kauai, but to stay in a cottage as opposed to a condo or hotel made a huge difference for us. We will be back, SOON!

A Week in Paradise

The Weke Cottage was the ideal private and comfortable spot for our stay. While I snorkelled at the many nearby beaches, my husband enjoyed reading on the Lanai. We both strolled the beach out front, walked to town and to many nice restaurants. We went out every night, and never ate at the same place twice. Plus we missed a few we would have liked to try. Hanalei is charming, and in the center of many Kauai activities. We'll go back. The cottage was very well appointed and the grounds were lovely and spacious. We loved it.

Perfect Beach Experience

Everything was wonderful! What a great cottage! There were 3 of us (2 adults, 1 child) and it was the perfect amount of space. Couldn't find a better location! Walking distance to town and steps to Hanalei Bay. It rained our last 2 days, and sitting out on the lanai with a cup of coffee, good book, the sound of the ocean, mountains in the background and rainbows in the sky...still terrific! Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. We were very impressed with how well everything was run. And our concierge, Sonja, was very helpful and available to us. Couldn't have asked for more! Would definitely rent the cottage again!
