What Attracts People to Maui During This Time?

First off, you have to go to Maui during high season if you have not already. Some people complain of traffic and crowds of people, but this is Maui! You’re not in a hurry. You and your family are here to relax. Not only do the winter months have the best mix of weather, but it’s also whale season.

During the winter months, pods of humpback whales make their way down from the Alaskan waters. Their primary destination is the Maui Channel. It stretches from South of La Perouse Bay and all the way past Kapalua. One of the reasons they come to the Maui Channel is to give birth to their baby whales, or calf. It’s a whole different experience when you’re sipping your favorite beverage at the beachside restaurant and in the distance you can see whales breaching. It’s all part of the magic of Maui.

When you have such amazing sights, many people want to be a part of it and choose to come to Maui during high season…it might also have something to do with the frigid temperatures in many parts of the world, especially the northern United States and Canada. If you’re selling a property, you can take advantage of the increased numbers of tourists. Likewise, if you’re looking to buy your dream property, there are often more choices to choose from.

There are lots of issues to look out for when considering buying/selling property during the busier months; that’s why it’s important to have been in contact with me prior to your visit or listing your property. Many properties for sale on Maui are short-term rentals. I will be able to help you navigate a complicated showing process. Often times you will have small windows of opportunity to view specific properties you’re interested in.

If you’re listing, we will have to work around bookings as well so that we can hold open houses and make sure those private viewers get to see your place.

Both buyers and sellers can also take advantage of demand. If you have that special property that exceeds all the rest on the market, then you will have lots of interest and be able to command a top price. If you’re buying and you have the gift of an imagination, you will be able to scoop up a property that may need more attention, or just a special vision, to transform it into that special piece of paradise you’ve always dreamed about.

Bottom Line

Buyers really need to be prepared when they arrive. Contact me in advance and I can make sure that you’re not spending unnecessary time waiting around from one showing to the next. You do have sea turtles to snorkel with while you’re here as well.

Sellers just need to be motivated. High season is the best time for us to hold open houses…especially if you’re in a high traffic area. I’m always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get maximum exposure while you have the availability.

Good luck in your journey here on Maui, and remember, if you’re not operating heavy machinery, keep your eyes on the water and you will be given a show to remember, whether it be a beautiful sunset, whales breaching and playing in the water…or both.

Aloha,
