I had the pleasure of living at an old beach house at Halama Street, and out of my 20 years living on Maui, those were the best 2 years ever! Waking up in the morning and launching my paddle board off my backyard and paddling down South towards Cove Park, surfing the empty reef spots along the way there, and back home in time for a dip in the pool before heading out to work…what a way to get the day started!

Or the early morning coffee at the edge of the yard checking the surf conditions, watching the local boys getting ready to spearfish. So many sunsets watching the Humpback whales put on a show during the season and I was lucky enough to witness a Manta Ray breach – yes they do, and I caught it twice and it was awesome! Plus, in my opinion, there isn’t a better sound to fall asleep to than waves crashing on the beach!

Halama Street stretches for approximately ¾ of a mile and is located in the heart of Kihei. The south end of the street connects to the north end of Kalama Park with its ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, skating rink, and oceanfront paths. This connection makes Halama a popular route for cyclists, joggers, and morning walkers.

Nearby, one would find grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and our lovely Kihei Library. I even bought a scooter when I lived there for the short errands because it was so convenient!
