Map of Wailea & “Painting the Back of the Fence”

This blog is all about a map of Wailea. Seriously? Yes. Here’s the map:

Why Am I Blogging About a Map of Wailea?

If you’ve ever looked for a map of Wailea online, you will be confronted with what appears to be mid 1990s graphic design disasters. Let me do the work for you (you’re welcome!) – check this out:

Pretty gross, right? The purpose of a map is to communicate a complex three dimensional geography in two dimensional form, with some added data which through the magic of your retinas and your brain allow for a clear understanding of the place. The artistry in the communication requires great graphic design and an editing down of data to focus on what’s important. In this case it’s Real Estate. Yes, we all have iPhones or smartphones and can access maps of incredible complexity and detail in our pockets, but you will not receive the clarity and concision that this map delivers.

Painting the Back of the Fence

One of the reasons I am happy to hang my license with the Hawaii Life Team is this shared value of taking extra time and extra care to do things right. I acknowledge that ugly maps of Wailea may perform a satisfactory function, but the Graphic Design Team at Hawaii Life – in this case primarily the talented Ginger Mudlin – have gone above and beyond what’s normally required in putting together a map. They have “painted the back of the fence” so to speak. This is the high bar that I aspire to when representing buyers and sellers here on Maui. Thank you, Ginger and Design Team!

If you’re curious, see what’s currently available in Wailea.

Please drop me an email, text, or pick up the phone if you would like to find out how I, along with the Hawaii Life Team, can leverage our expertise and good taste to help you accomplish your real estate goals.
