Spacious Princeville Home with Golf Course and Mountain Views

A 3 bed/2.5 bath home with golf course and mountain views in Princeville on the North Shore of Kauai has recently come back on the market sporting a brand new roof, and I want to share about it. But first, I want to recount an experience with my most recent source of recreational pleasure: the sport of golf.

Golf – My New Found Obsession

I started golfing four years ago. Though my initial motivation came more from seeking new angles in which to view our inspiring mountains here on the North Shore of Kauai than from a desire to hit a little white ball, I quickly discovered the meditative and competitive dance that playing golf provides. Strangely enough, if I focus on progressing that little white dimpled ball around the course, the entire world around me seems to disappear. I found myself actually communicating with the ball.

Soon enough my husband, Jack, was fascinated with my new found obsession and wanted to join in for a day. Mind you, this man’s idea of fun is paddling into large Hawaiian waves and maximizing adrenaline in his system, but I figured what the heck, let him give it a go.

We both teed off on the first hole, him going left and me going right. Next thing I know he’s yelling across the fairway, “where’s the hole?” I tell him to aim for the white pole in the center of the fairway and get back to my Zen-like concentration.

After my shot I look up and see Jack standing next to a white pole yelling that there’s no hole there, at which point I started losing it, laughing hysterically, because Jack was not on the green about to putt, but mistook the white 150-yard marker for the hole. I assumed he understood that the ‘flag’ designated the hole, but evidently he didn’t.

Needless to say, Jack didn’t finish the first 6 holes, then the surf came up and he was off to chase waves again. I resumed my blissful activity, with a recurring chuckle at my husband playing to a non-existent hole.

That’s one laughable tale from my golfing life, which I’m sure many of us have.

Why This Home in Princeville Could Elevate Your Game

The reason I bring this up is that Princeville, where this well-designed and well-maintained home is located, is essentially a golfer’s haven. The entire community is sculpted within and around two courses — the Prince Golf Course and the Makai Golf Club — which together offer 45 holes of ocean, lake, mountain, and valley golfing bliss.

The Prince Course, which Tiger Woods is rumored as referring to as simply “unfair” (read: it’s a challenge) has been rated ‘Top Course in Hawaii’ by Golf Digest on numerous occasions. The Makai Course — a little more user-friendly — underwent remodeling in 2009 and garnered the ‘Top Remodeling Job of the Year’ award, which adds to its slew of honors over the years, including ‘Top 5 Great Golf Settings’ from National Geographic to Golf Digest’s ’75 Best Golf Resorts’.

So whether you’re a newbie, a novice, or one of the many totally consumed by this curious sport, this property could be the perfect venue to launch a new hobby, hone your skills a bit, or challenge your game for all that its got.

Hope to see you on the course sometime!

Aloha,
Miriam
