Week 51 – Hawaiian Style Teriyaki Beef or Chicken!
Hawaiian Style Teriyaki Beef or Chicken Recipe
Beef or chicken slices grilled or broiled in a sweet teriyaki marinade.
- 3 – 4 lbs. beef or chicken
Sweet Teriyaki Marinade
- 2/3 cups soy sauce
- 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons sherry or white wine
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch piece ginger, crushed
- 3 stalks green onion, finely chopped
- Chinese parsley (cilantro)
Mix all ingredients in sweet teriyaki marinade. Soak beef or chicken for 4 hours or overnight in marinade. Turn pieces over and marinate with sauce. Bake in shallow pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Do not overcook. Ten minutes before turning heat off, pour rest of soy sauce mixture over meat. Serve with chopped green onions and Chinese parsley.
As mentioned in my first recipe blog, Hawaii is a wonderful mix of cultures and each of these peoples brought with them their customs and foods. The early plantation days saw these combining cultures creating foods that are unique only to Hawaii. We thank these early pioneers who planted and nurtured these plantation fields and created many of these amazing recipes.
