More Beautiful Mana Kai Maui Renovations Near Completion!

The Mana Kai has always been highly-regarded for its location on one of the best beaches on Maui (Keawakapu Beach), for the incredible ocean views from each unit in the building, for its inviting atmosphere, and for its impressive occupancy rates.

As most people who have stayed at the Mana Kai know, it is important to book your Mana Kai reservations early, due to the incredible popularity of this wonderful complex. Over the past several years, the owners’ association, the board of directors, and the resident manager have worked diligently together to dramatically improve what was already a spectacular place.

Mana Kai – It Just Keeps Getting Better!

Just when it seemed like there was nothing left to do, they have now begun another project that will benefit the complex – they are putting a new roof over the Five Palms lower terrace. The Mana Kai owners and the Board of Directors have been waiting a very long time to be able to make this improvement, and they just recently received the necessary permit from the County of Maui.

The work is already underway, and they expect the project to be completed very shortly. This will provide a more attractive roofline over the Five Palms terrace area, both from the ground and from the condominium units themselves.

Mana Kai Improvements

This is just the latest of a long list of improvements that have been completed in recent years, many of which were performed as part of a $5 million renovation to the property. The Mana Kai retained the imaginative Island Design team, who demonstrated incredible vision in the design work for the improvements.

These improvements included, among other things:

  • An entirely re-designed and refurnished lobby
  • A new entry area
  • Two new elevators
  • New pool decking
  • A new pool design
  • New water features
  • A resurfaced building exterior
  • New carpeting on walkways
  • New unit doors and door frames
  • New soffets
  • New lighting and artwork

In addition to these substantial improvements, the Mana Kai also brought all new electrical systems into the building (a very extensive undertaking), which were relocated and replaced.

The parking lot and curbing was beautifully redesigned, new lighting was added, the landscaping was extensively renovated, and attractive new signage was designed and installed. There is also now a beautiful new walking path along the ocean. The Mana Kai has never looked better!

My Experience with Mana Kai

The Mana Kai has always held a special place in my heart, as my family has vacationed there since I was about 12 or 15 years old. My folks eventually bought their first unit in the building in the 1980′s, and we spent the vast majority of our family vacations there, before my folks eventually made it their permanent residence. We continue to spend a great deal of time at the Mana Kai, and I encourage you to do the same, whether as an owner or a renter.

For those of you not familiar with the Mana Kai units themselves, here is a link to some information and photos for one of the Mana Kai units currently on the market. I hope to see you at the Mana Kai soon!

    Jeff,

There is no question that you are the Mana Kai expert, I have been seeing your open house signs their for many years.

What are the average occupancy rate for Mana Kai units?

Hi Jeremy. Thank you for the note. The Mana Kai has always been one of the most, if not the most, popular rental property I have encountered. My folks rent out their unit, and the performance has been outstanding. I’ll talk to you about the occupancy figures when I see you next. Thank you again!

You are right! The Mana Kai just keeps getting better … this is my home away from home and all the new updating even surprised me when I was there this weekend. It has all my “favorites” right there: Keawakapu Beach, Five Palms Restaurant and the best happy hour. This is where I put my family and friends when they visit.

Hi Kathleen. Thank you for your insights. I, too, have been referring my friends and relatives to the Mana Kai for many years. In fact, a few years back, I suggested that some of my former co-workers from California stay there, and it led to a steady flow of folks from the firm spending their vacations at the Mana Kai.

Wasn’t there a big mess when they did the roof? Explain.

Hi Bill. The roof has basically now been finished. I believe you may be referring to the additional support work that was needed. They determined that the new roof would require some additional support, which they have been addressing. The entire project will be finished very shortly. The new roof is another great addition to an already great complex. Thank you for your question!
