Thanks for sharing Justin. Looks like we’ve been on an upswing since ’09. I knew we had the largest amount of visitors here on Oahu, however didn’t realize it was 48.5%

The funny thing is everyone complaining about tourism being down in 2008 – 2010. However, visitor numbers never dipped below 6.5 million. If you go to the HTA website and look at visitor numbers before 2004, you’ll see it was always below 6.5M with a few exceptions.

The real problem was NOT that there weren’t visitors (there were plenty) but that businesses had made a mistake expanding for growth seen from 2004 – 2007 that didn’t continue as they had expected.

Anyone whose been to Hanalei recently can attest to the increase in visitors. Recent movies filmed here such as “The Descendents” may increase visitor arrivals even more.
