Kona Homes for Sale Under $469K in Kuakini Heights

I’ve been getting a lot of calls from second home/retirement home buyers looking for great values in Kona. Two of my current “must shows” are just around the corner from each other in Kuakini Heights. I think these two compete with many of the $500,000 homes on the market. All you have to do is decide—ocean view or pool.

What: A three bedroom, two bath, modern plantation-style home with a pool. (MLS# 229518)

How much?: $445,000

Size: 1,376 sq. ft.

The Home: This three bed/two bath home is all about the pool, and the expansive lanai. The open great room, and the master suite both open out onto the pool. The two guest rooms, and bath are set on the back side of the house. Like most homes in this neighborhood, the garage is separate, and sits out on the street providing a wonderful sense of privacy. The lanai off the great room is covered, so rain or shine, you can live outdoors.

What: A three bedroom, two bath, modern plantation-style home with an ocean view. (MLS# 239921)

How much?: $469,000

Size: 1,308 sq. ft.

The Home: Slightly different open floor plan with great room, master suite, and one of the guest suites all opening out onto the expansive covered lanai with its ocean view. The view is what makes this house so special. Front row for sunsets, and the ocean breezes flow right through. The master suite is on the north side of the house, and the two guest rooms are on the southern end making for great separation of space.

The home is set back from the street behind the free standing garage for extra privacy. This home has a more modern feel with new tile floors throughout the Great Room. Kitchen and both bathrooms have been updated as well. An extra plus is the lava rock outdoor shower nestled among the lush landscaping.

Neighborhood: Both homes are located in Kuakini Heights. This small neighborhood of homes is centrally located midway between Kailua-Kona and Keauhou. The homes were all built in 1990, by Maryl Construction, one of Kona’s finest luxury home builders.

Utilities are underground and ocean views abound. The landscaping is lush and fully matured. Great place for a retirement, or second home. Very low homeowners fees are also a plus. When I started writing this blog there was a third home for sale in the neighborhood, but its just gone into contract. These two shouldn’t last long either.

I try to have a few “gems” in each price range. While the internet is great, pictures can often be misleading. Let me know your price range, and I would be happy to share my “best buys” with you.
